Quote Of The Day - Carl Paladino: The poor should be housed in prisons
Quote Of The Day - Carl Paladino

"Instead of handing out the welfare checks, we'll teach people how to earn their check. We'll teach them personal hygiene ... the personal things they don't get when they come from dysfunctional homes. These are beautiful properties with basketball courts, bathroom facilities, toilet facilities. Many young people would love to get the hell out of cities. You have to teach them basic things — taking care of themselves, physical fitness. In their dysfunctional environment, they never learned these things." - GOP New York gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino, saying that the state's poor should be housed in prisons.

2. A lot of them are, asshole. ...
Just like the mentally ill.

"You have to teach them basic things — taking care of themselves, physical fitness."

The Fuhrer would be proud. I'm remembering scenes for Triumph of Will that showed young people doing exercises at the Nuremberg rally.

3. Avg cost?? $47K per year for each "guest"
All told, it costs an average of $129.04 a day to house an inmate in the prison system. Although these figures come from California corrections, it is slightly lower in other parts of the country, but not by much.

Thats 47K per Yr for Each "guest"

4. That's not a problem

See what you need to do is charge each "guest" for their room and board which you take out of what you pay them. When they pay off their room and board they can leave.

What we could also do is send debtors to these prisons as well.

6.  I find it interesting when people add interps to songs,
Edited on Mon Aug-23-10 11:27 AM by RandomThoughts

not sure what others think about that song, but it is clear he has certain religious thoughts from "end of innocence"

And they can be seen in that song also. Turning off the road is entering the hotel that can not be escaped. Notice he says 'she has the boys' and there captain does not have the wine. Because in that song the hotel does not have that spirit. What I think of as the juice in some contexts. Although everyone has different thoughts on what things could be, and not always the same thoughts on things.

Desperado also has love over money mentioned by the queen of hearts not the queen of diamonds.

7. wouldn't it be cheaper to rebuild the cities and create job
Training centers. Why would anyone think of imprisoning people for job training?

It's like jailing sick people so they can use the infirmary instead of going to the hospital.

9. I KNEW Carl Paladino reminded me of someone...
“Are there no prisons?” asked Scrooge.

“Plenty of prisons,” said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

“And the Union workhouses?” demanded Scrooge. “Are they still in operation?”

“They are. Still,” returned the gentleman, “I wish I could say they were not.”

“The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?” said Scrooge.

“Both very busy, sir.”

“Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,” said Scrooge. “I’m very glad to hear it.”
