Krystals Rule

(please pardon me......psyching myself up for day surgery Thursday with "anti-anxiety" mixture of hops, barley, yeast, and water)

1. There are no White Castles or Krystals where I live
I've never even heard of Krystal, but those sliders look pretty good.

7. I know for a fact there there is a White Castle in Kansas.
About 4 miles from the MO border. At least it was there a few years ago.

I'll throw in Winsteads, because that's also a KC classic. No idea if it still exists.

Their patties are amazing, especially the crust around the edges. Everyone who has eaten there knows about the edges.

Gawd I'm hungry.

26. Ain't no White Castles west of St. Louis.
If there were, I would know about it.

Kansas City is burger capitol of the US of A! White Castle was run out of town on a rail after a run of a few years. We have Town Topic...only for the brave, IMHO.

Winstead's a'plenty though in KC. They have the best malts there. Tastes like liquid Whoppers. Good onion rings too.

For burgers, locals in the know flock to Westport Flea Market. Burgers and microbrews...yummy.

Edited on Mon Aug-23-10 01:30 PM by Radical Activist
It was on a road trip. I think it was Tennessee south of Nashville, but it might have been in Kentucky. I thought the laws of the universe had been violated and the whole town would be sucked into a green and brown slushy vortex.

the only time I could ever eat such greasy things was after an all night drunk..and it was rarely that I could get THAT drunk and still walk forget driving...Was usually along for the ride and I paid for both the Jack Daniels and the burgers. Usually several days for the burgers (or whatever they actually are).

54. The thing about rural GA is that theres always a cop at the Krystal and

when one has the munchies at 3am, even though Krystal is open 24 hours and you're craving the hell out of it, you don't dare go because there are at least 2 cops at the counter drinking free coffee.

Its the forbidden fruit.

But, having tried White Castle's notorious "slider" once, I'd rather wait until dawn for something to eat.

Krystal looks barfably horrific - are these the same chain, under different business names? I couldn't face putting one of those in my body, particularly after ingesting hallucinogenic drugs.

Would rather eat bait.

Couldn't keep peyote down, at all, no matter what the label or vintage of whatever I was drinking.

Generally, food is better when it isn't moving and jumping off the plate in flames, unless it's a cherries in cognac.

Most of the time, he had low level paranoia going on so the best I could do is stay in touch with him, meet him at these places and try to resuscitate his trust in the medical community, let alone in me.

But thanks for asking. This is why I come to DU.
