Less Falwell, More Cowbell

Hello:

I realize that some of my earlier comments about Jerry Falwell's death may have rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I still have serious concerns about DUers being too celebratory concerning Falwell's passing, but let me clarify my own feelings:

Am I glad he kicked the bucket? Of course not. Does my heart go out to his family and loved ones? You bet. Am I happy that Falwell's personal influence over American Christianity has come to an end? Most definitely. Here's an infamous blast from Falwell's past that I'm sure many of you remember:

I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America, I point the finger in their face and say "You helped this happen."

And, of course, he was referring to 9/11. Real class act, this guy. He will not be missed on DU.

But then again, this is DU. And we've still got bigger fish to fry on Capitol Hill.

Starting with the Attorney General.

threads are really fucking ANNOYING! I am sure DU can handle more than one topic at a time. Start a thread on the attorney general if you like and leave the rest of us who want to discuss other things in peace. if you want to dictate what should be discussed start your own damn discussion board already!

For you to infer an "It's all about ME" message from the OP seems to indicate a certain hypersensitivity on the subject.
