America's State Religion: Horse'sAss-ism
This country has been taken over by the "I'm an ignorant dumb ass and proud of it" crowd! We give a national microphone to Beck, the dropout drunk; and Limbaugh the dropout druggie. Palin is what ignorant racism looks like if you slap lipstick on it and parade it around as your pet pig! We get nuts all liquored up about mosques...and then they go to church and screech to the world how "Christian" this country is. We let loose the dumb asses of my generation (I'm 65) to do their "Tea" crap and then they waive their "Don't Mess with My Medicare" signs. And the animals that feed on the ignorant smack their lips and use these losers to make political gains for the super rich who are laughing at them all. (Actually this movie has run before---it was called the Civil War). For God's sake we need the informed, the educated, and those with an IQ that has three digits to push these clowns back into the "Dunce Corner" where they belong and take this country out of their hands or this country is going to "stupid" itself right out of existence!

I love the cartoon. Doesn't it just hit it all on the head! I feel sorry for all the young people because this "system" is going to work you into a grave and you will never be able to retire anyway. Look at your 401K and know that many, many years from now you are lucky if all but 1% of it hasn't been wiped out. By that time "the man" will find a way to take away even that. Ahhhh, the sweet smell of third world peon-ism.......

7. Extremely well said! Zillions of recs!!! If only America had a brain. The complacently of
Americans with these damn fools and their echo chambers is startling. I'm about the same age and I listen to some of these teabaggers and the like, they are damn fools.

And then some crap was going around about how well educated the teabaggers are... these people can't even spell simple words.

I often think anymore I'm going to outlive this country if it keeps on with these fools held up as pillars of knowledge. American is on the short path to extinction. Our worst enemy is ourselves.

I was telling someone today, in my lifetime, America has become a very unpleasant place to live for a large number of citizens IMO. Why people put up with this RW BS is beyond me. The country has been brainwashed.

We have got to start understanding that Fox and the re-born Nazi's like Beck and Limbaugh are not innocent entertainment or news. This is propaganda the likes of which Hitler (and every other earthly piece of shit) would have been ecstatic at having in order to turn a country into a heaving mass of garbage with them sitting on the top! Fox is NOT a game............ and we are worried about Iran getting nukes.........look at the destruction in our own back yards. This is where we need as a nation to turn and drive these "sons of Satan" out!

14. I've heard so many quote Fox as if it's the only authority in this country for news. And when
you try to explain to them what's behind Fox they turn a deaf ear. Fox has done frankly an excellent job of tapping into what drives many people... fear followed by hatred. IMO this is the most propagandized nation on earth. We have ignorance + gullibility in this country married by Fox News, and embraced by the RNC as their official propaganda outlet.

I truly think Hitler would have admired Fox and embraced them for his campaign. Often I've heard it said this is reminiscent of 1939's Germany and I think if the trend continues we are there. The hatred in this country is very concerning. Hatred has become Americas' best product in my lifetime propelled by RW religion and Fox.

All you have to do is look over the "fare" that is offered on TV. A program that doesn't operate at about the 3rd grade level, is doomed. We LOVE programs that pit people against each other and make them fight and make them manipulate others for their goals, etc. We have a national infection. We will never be able to withstand the competition from nations who rightfully think of us as ignorant clowns....they will overtake us. We have become a nation of peons and we did it to ourselves. Like I said in my orginal post, people are proud of how fucking dumb they are and how much they can open their pie hole and spout crap. There used to be a time when the ignorant knew their place and stayed in it!

11. The problem is....

...too many of the three-digit IQ's are the ones smacking their lips, or toadies for them.

So, we start from a position of reduced numbers of intelligent people who actually care about all of us.

12. Bonus voting
The only way to solve this is to get rid of "one man, one vote" and give bonus votes to the better educated and informed. Now before someone accuses me of trying to bring back literacy tests, I'll say up front that everyone who shows up at the polls should get ONE vote. But to skew the vote tally to smart instead of stupid, those who have more smarts should get a fraction tacked onto their vote. Graduate college, get an extra tenth of a vote. Doctoral degree from an accredited institution? Two tenths extra. Maybe have a civics test down at the county courthouse, and if a voter wants to take it and passes, he can get an extra quarter vote.

If you think that the ignorant, misinformed, and easily fooled should get the same vote as the well-educated and informed, I guess I'm not going to be able to persuade you. But tell me, how is instant-runoff, preferential voting, or any other poll technology going to counter the use of advertising to make sure that the dumbest vote is counted?

I'll bet most DUers could rack up the maximum possible extra vote points if such a system was implemented.

13. IZq.......
Being intelligent has nothing to do with the degree in your back pocket (and I worked years with people who daily proved that point!). It has to do with "lazy intellect". When a person is literally voting for people whose agenda will destroy the person's ability to exist in this country, that is el fuckin' DUMB. Unfortunately, we are infected with these people. Ironically, the more they elect these people, the worse things get for them and the more the RW can manipulate them into anger and send them right back into that voting booth the next time. We are an overly entertained and under informed country.

17. But intelligence can be measured
It correlates pretty well with education. And states that do poorly in all measures of education, are red states.

ain't it odd that the more stinking the education system, the more a state glows red on election night? It's now not just the "Southern Strategy"--it's the "keep 'em uneducated" strategy ....and the rich will live in glory, forever and ever. AMen

24. When "Stupid" comes along
When stupid crap emerges, unfortunately the left has always either let it slide, weakly say anything about it, or get all tongue-tied in how to shoot it down. Seems to me that the best defense against these dumbass people is to strike first and let them search around in the sewer trying to find the pieces of their brain in order to rebutt.

..and you forgot that there are waaaay more of those ignorant shitkickers than any group in this country and getting worse as we "gear down" that eduuukation crap!!!! I'm wondering if when these dumbasses (or the children of the dumbasses) literally have no jobs or jobs that pay what the slave owners pay the Mexicans right now, if then there might be an awakening, a turning from a Fox news, and somebody actually reads a book or THINKS!! Hmmmm...maybe we could design a thing called "Lazy Man's Education" that could be pumped into the brain in just a few minutes. You know, like Fox, only with REAL insight, info and letting people know what's going to happen to them if they stay on the path to DUBMBASS-ville!
