1. Some groups are already answering that question...
No mosques anywhere in the USA.

Agreed on the douchebag.

14. Temecula, CA apparently is not far enough away
They're protesting a mosque site there. And a mosque in FL was pipe-bombed in May.

5. Tweety's taken his good Tweety pills today
He's put people on the spot for the right reasons and his interview with Fineman and Sam Stein was very, very good.

6. Are any of these people from NYC?
Hendrik Hertzberg in the New Yorker claims that Manhattanites are almost universally for Park51.

Seems everyone else should mind their own business.

12. I agree. it seems the closer you are to the actual location, the more you are in favor of it.

The neighborhood supports it almost 100%..

The fanatic haters, for the most part, do not even live in NY!

7. That is because there is no answer
They don't want a mosque on the same planet. And if it keeps 9/11 fear flowing, all the better. That is all they are after with this anyway.

8. What?! Asking for specifics?
That's like using Troll-A-Way. Asking for specifics and probing behind the sound bite is strictly forbidden. The role of the media is just to pass along whatever hobgoblin is currently occupying the little minds of the Republibots without evaluating it or judging it in any way. Well, in the interest of fairness and balance, I suppose they're allowed to report that "some people" are pumping up this issue or that issue, just so it doesn't look like they themselves are taking that ridiculous position. But that's it! Otherwise, they're just supposed to serve as a conduit and make sure the message gets amplified.

9. the "Liberal" didn't know how to respond either....
Not that she looked as foolish as the guy who couldn't answer how far away the "Mosque" should be.

Unfortunately we still don't have an adequate response to this insane argument that the people who lost loved ones on 9-11 somehow are injured by the building of the community center.

My attempt at a response would be this.

Americans lose more than 32,000 of us every year to guns and gun violence.

(old statistic but it servers my purpose for this post http://www.vpc.org/studies/wher2gen.htm)

Shouldn't the feelings of the loved ones who have survived should be taken into account when we consider laws that allow people to carry firearms? These people can be out at a grocery store or in a laundry mat and have someone walk in with a reminder of how their loved one died strapped to his/her hip.

The "Mosque" is in a fixed location and people who are upset by it can simply avoid that location. People who are reminded of the loss of a loved one from a firearm can't avoid everyone who chooses to walk around with a pistol.

If we are considering limiting first amendment rights due to the feelings of people who lost loved ones then we must also consider limiting second amendment rights due to the feelings of people who lost loved ones.

Let them respond to that, I am sure they will come up with something but it should knock them off their hate spewing racist message for a while.

13. Instead of guns, use car accidents

Thousands of people die from all sorts of things, but you can still buy cigarettes from the convenience store across the street from the hospice.

I don't know how we got this "sainted class" which is supposed to have a monolithic viewpoint of anything but whom, in reality, do not.
