Seems like the AARP has enough pull to make them scared to touch SS.

Maybe they are not big enough.

1. I've read that the AARP is supportive of "fixing" SS
Much like they sold their members out over the Bush Medicare drug plan.

2. The AARP sold out years ago
They're pretty much a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance companies

5. The must have changed to the OTHER side because
one of the senior VPs just went to a job with the republicans. Didn't you see that. So what does it tell you about AARP. I just send them their literature back and say not interested cost two stamps but it is worth it.

6. I think that if most of the AARP members were dead set
against changes to SS, then there would be something to fear. Let's face it, they are talking about selling out the young people to save the old people's SS the way it is. The old farts don't care as long as you keep your hands off of their checks.

8. Most of the elderly do not understand what is going on and
no one is going to tell them. I have talked to a lot of older people and they didn't even know that SS was even an issue. Remember that most older people are not online, and if you just TV you would not know that SS is under attack at all.

9. We are talking about elderly who are AARP members, and
AARP has a magazine for all members. That magazine is always bringing these issues to their attention. They should be aware of it, and I think members of AARP are aware. But the changes being talked about are not their concern---yet.

7. As long as you don't fuck with the old people's checks they don't care.
As long as they are secure they could care less about younger generations being fucked over.
