Can we please scare voters by running hyperbolic ads regarding Social Security?
Can we not be nuanced? Can we leave sophistication at the entrance. Can we simply say, "Your republican candidate wants to take away your Social Security and give it to BP executives" (or whatever corporate asshole of the week). Rinse and repeat. Don't explain yourself. Don't apologize. Just say it more loudly and assertively. They want to steal your hard-earned money and give it to a man who makes $50 million a year.

Can we just be happy demonizing just for this one election? Can we please NOT try to explain the logical/factual correctness of our positions? Just this once? Bet we'd win pretty easily. I'm tired of playing fair. Facts be damned. I want some good old fashioned demagoguery and demonizing. I want to say things that are only 75% true when we recite specific "facts."

I'm not being sarcastic. Yes, I know, "we'll tell the truth and they'll think it's hell." Harry didn't have to run against Fox news and all the other bullshit filters.

This "mosque" story has simply highlighted what we've all known all along. And I say we use this playbook. It seems to work very well.

By the way, I think they do in fact want to take away Social Security and give it to the "market."

1. Even if they do bring up Social Security in campaign ads
our party always ends up saying phrases that don't hit home... for example: They would say "My opponent wants to privatize Social Security". Thinking people know what this means...but I can assure you, there are zillions of Faux News Freaks who haven't got a clue what that means!

They hear the repuke candidates or Faux News say "We think you know better how to invest your money than the government does!!"..or "We want to put your money in your hands and get it out of the hands of the government bureaucrat!".
The people who cheer these phrases do not have the mental capacity to think beyond these phrases to what their golden years would be like if they "invested" their own money!

3. It would be easier to do if Democrats were sure of where THEY
stand. We have a president who appointed the worst possible team of Rightwing Anti-SS zealots to his Commission. A Commission that was meant to deal with the deficit, but is really a sneaky way of allowing Republicans to turn the conversation into a discussion on how SS is the cause of all our financial problems. And we have a president who has been repeating Republican lies, stating that SS actually is contributing to the deficit.

They could do it if they wanted to, just as they could have pushed for a PO if they had wanted to.

It's not the words that are the problem, it is the will to do what is right.

Republicans want to steal SS. But Democrats are not all that sure that Republicans are wrong. That is why it is in danger of being stolen.

4. The only thing wrong with Social Security is all
the living wage jobs that have been outsourced and no longer contributing to the Social Security fund.
We need to get our living wage jobs back for any recovery to occur.

Anything else is just diddling with the symptoms. But we are world famous for that. Look at what was done with our health care. They are gearing up to do the same thing with our Social Security.
