I got my motivation for Nov: Save the country from the divisiveness of the tea party/GOP |
|
I do not know how Democrats or anyone who loves this country and wants to uphold its principles and ideals cannot be motivated for November.
After watching last year's health care debate turn ugly, watching the tea party spread its hate and watching the blatant Islamophobia that drives the belief that Obama is Muslim and fuels the opposition to the lower Manhattan Islamic cultural center I am more than motivated to make sure we get out the vote and make sure Democrats win in November.
Additionally, I truly believe that given the expectations that the pundits and GOP have for November a Democratic victory would absolutely demoralize the Republicans and tea party crowd.
I know this thread will receive a bunch of unrecs, but who cares. I am motivated and I encourage those of you who share that motivation to chime in with what motivates you.

1. Fear is not the best motivator in an election. |

All I can do is vote for a bunch of progressives in NYC, where progressives usually win by a landslide anyway. That's not going to keep slack-jawed no-nothings in the boondocks from voting in all the psychobaggers they want.

2. Fear is not the best motivator and I plan on posting more motivations. . . |
|
. . .so you are going to see me posting some strong positives. But given that its August and August is when the ugly shows up (last year's town halls) I hate to speak out on saving the country from the divisiveness.

3. The teabaggers are about to die politically |
|
For all the fuss they've generated, they are about to "go down" in the way the emasculates them politically. Their candidates are about to get rolled, badly. This will be the functional end of them for the GOP. For either party, you get power by delivering votes. When you don't, you're gone. They've gotten some candidates on ballots through the primary system, but they can't deliver in November. You've got Chuck Hagel already backing Sestak over Toomey. Tancredeo is doing something strange in Colorado. Many inside the GOP know what's coming. The baggers have had their day. The GOP will live on, but the baggers are through. To some extent, Palin is going to be dieing soon, politically. She's headed the direction of Huckabee. Got some fans, but can't deliver the votes. She's 0 for 5 in August so far. Newt has more clout.
2012 is going to be interesting for the GOP. It may be when the "adults" take back control. My best guess is that Romney is their man, unless Jindal makes some sort of ressurection. There's potentially a govenor or two that may rise up. But the baggers don't raise cash, and they don't deliver votes. That's toxic in politics.

4. I want to see health care go forward, |
|
and immigration taken care of, and DADT lawfully stopped. None of that will happen unless Barack Obama stays in the oval office and we keep control of the house and senate.
I'll be damned if I want a bunch of rabid rightwing radicals speaking for me on Capitol Hill!

9. I found my motivation about a week ago |
|
I just couldn't feel motivated by "Vote for us, we're not as bad as they are." But, then I thought about the antics and incredible acrobatics the Dems have gone through in the last two years to convince us that they can't really do anything substantial even with the majority in both houses and a Dem in the White House and I realized I've kind of enjoyed the comic relief. Yeah, it's been somewhat horrifying, but what clown isn't, right? So, I want even more Dems in the House and Senate because if the last two years have been amusing, just imagine the never ending laughs when the Democrats have 65 Senators and two thirds of the House and they still don't get a damn thing done. I'm voting straight Democrat just to spite them. That and for the amusement factor. With Republicans we have sheer horror, with the Democrats we have silly clowns. I vote silly clowns.
It's not like either side is really running the game, actually, but that's a whole other thread.
So, vote Democratic - it will be worth watching them twist themselves into comedic pretzels. Better even than bread and circuses. Well, actually, I've never actually experienced bread and circuses so I could well be wrong on that point.
