St Bartholomew's Day Massacre and Jerry Falwell
Jerry Falwell and 'Bush's Base' seems to think that the USofA is a strictly 'Judeo-Christian' nation. Most of the Founding Fathers were Freemasons, many with memories familiar with the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre of French protestants. Intolerance of religious views wasn't something the Enlightenment was all about.

repealing the Enlightenment. So a key element of their program is to deny that our country's founders had anything to do with it.
