General Motors (GM) Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner unveils the E-Flex Fuel Cell variant for the Chevrolet Volt at the Shanghai Auto Show in Shanghai, China, April 20, 2007. This second variant of the E-Flex system uses GM's new fifth-generation fuel cell propulsion technology and a lithium-ion battery to provide up to 300 miles of petroleum and emissions-free electric driving.

1. They debuted a version of the Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in

January. No word on when it's going to be mass produced anywhere yet. I'd get this car in a heartbeat if the price is right. I just hope it comes out in the next few years.

It will probably never get produced and if it does, the price will be so high as to discourage people from purchasing it to save money.
They keep the price of these things just high enough that there is no payoff.

5. That's just it -- we don't know yet

They say they're still trying to perfect the battery for mass production at a reasonable cost, the last I heard. I'm not holding my breath, but I really do hope they get this built. It's a beautiful car and the best alternative one I've seen so far.
