I never should have joined, G.I. said:Army widow gets painful note
Two days after learning that her soldier husband had been killed in an ambush, the widow received a letter from him that reduced her to tears.

Pfc. Daniel Courneya, 19, who died in an attack outside Baghdad in which three other G.I.s were killed and three kidnapped, wrote to his wife, Jennifer, that meeting her sooner could have changed his life.

"He told me in a letter I just got yesterday if he had met me before he went in the service, he would have never gone," the sweet-faced 19-year-old told the Daily News yesterday. "He really didn't want to be there."

"He said he wanted to come home," she added. "He said he hated it there."

....

Kernehan said it made her angry to think about her daughter's future without her husband, and it confirmed her opinion about the war.

"My opinion has been and is even more now that we don't need to be anyway," she said.

3. Yeah. Nineteen.
I've got almost 40 years on that kid. Just think what he might have done with another 40 years.

I hate this war.

5. It's so tragically surreal that
thanks to the bushits we're living a Viet Nam redux in the 21st century.

I am so sorry that her husband, Pfc. Daniel Courneya, had to be sacrificed for the bushlies..and the ones who are calling for everyone else to go to Iraq are staying safely AWAY and their kids aren't signing up either. That means you, bush, romney, and the college joke republicons.

7. That is one of the saddest things I've heard recently
My two sons became Marines in the 90s. Thankfully they're both out now. If they'd tried to join after we went into Iraq I would have moved heaven and earth to stop them, including lying down in front of the bus that would drive them down to Parris Island.

9. And what really sticks in my craw is, all these commercials
going on now, where they encourage you to "listen" to your son or daughter when they want to talk about enlisting.

"I know what I'm doing Mom!" 6 months later, Mom's bawling her eyes out because she DID listen and now s/he's dead!

F*cking freeptards and this war! I'd like to shove it down their throats until they choke!
