The Independent News Consortium was just about to announce that Al Gore really won the Presidency, and then *boom* 9/11. The Consortium results were not announced for another 6 months because we could not have the legitimacy of the Bush* pResidency questioned.

9/11 allowed the heineous Patriot Act to be passed, many of said acts provisons were secret, giving the cheney*/bush* pResidency unprecedented--*almost* dictatorial--powers.
