Cut spending by cutting lifetime benefits to elected gov't officials,
Let's cut that uncontrollable spending. Seems TPTB have forgotten how much taxpayers spend for them to enjoy their lifetime benefits and salaries, and for them to enjoy the best health insurance in this country. Let the cutting begin!

8. But but but! BUT!!! If you take away good compensation, then you don't get good people for the job!
OR SOMETHING! Not that that applies to anyone who, you know, cleans or bakes or drives or writes or cares for the sick or teaches or builds or helps for a living. Just CEOs and senators and congresspeople. That's all.

9. Sounds great
Only problem is that it would take an act of Congress for this to happen. We're talking about people who give themselves an automatic pay raise unless they decide to vote it down. These are the same people who refuse to yank the lifetime benefits of felons who were former Congress members.

11. The self-awarded pay raises should be the first to go.
