Bristol Palin gets $14,000 to speak Benefit Single Mother's Home
Edited on Wed Aug-25-10 04:35 AM by RamboLiberal
Couldn't they find a better way to spend this money? Is she that much of a draw at a $125 plate dinner? I have nothing against Bristol but she really is not the face of the struggle most single mothers especially teens face.

Bristol Palin — the teen mother whose turbulent relationship with her son's father has added a soap-opera subplot to her mother Sarah’s political career — will speak Sept. 8 on behalf of a home for single mothers in Louisville.

Palin, 19, will receive $14,000 to speak at a benefit at the Louisville Marriot Downtown on behalf of the Lifehouse, which was founded in 2007 and has operated in a brick house on Riedling Drive, a quiet street off Zorn Avenue.

The $125-per-person benefit will raise funds toward plans to double the home's capacity, but it's also intended to bring publicity to the program after its low-key startup, executive director Joan Smith said.

-----

Smith said Bristol Palin, who has become a speaker advocating sexual abstinence before marriage, is relatively inexpensive compared to other speakers the group considered, such as conservative talk-radio host Laura Ingraham.

2. Why have speakers?
There are other more cost effective ways to raise money.

The whole Palin family has figured out how to make those big bucks, haven't they? *puke*

3. She'll keep it short:
1. Just say no.
2. Make it out to "cash".

11. Exactly... She cares so much about single teen moms that she is taking
14 grand to talk about it? How about taking expenses and letting the place use the money for what it is needed for? Or are the poor little Palins so broke that their daughter needs to take speaking fees from charitable organizations?

I used to do work for "high society" charity events. It's such a crock of shit, they would spend 2 million dollars on a party to raise $50,000 for charity so they could pat themselves on the back and say what a wonderful thing they did for those needy people.

6. bringing back the single mother's homes, how sweet
wonder how long before they bring back the Magdalene's laundries, like Ireland did.

Exploiting the single mother's for cheap labor is not far behind.

7. Link to lifehouse...what a hoot!
Prior to 1973, when abortion was legalized, there were four maternity homes operating in Louisville, Kentucky. They included the Salvation Army Home, Our Lady's Home, Volunteers of America, and one operated by the Baptist church. With the legalization of abortion, these facilities were closed.

This year, it is estimated that in one downtown Louisville clinic alone, over 4,000 babies will be aborted. Though much effort is being made by those in the pro-life movement, there continues to be a hole in the continuum of services, and what is being done is not enough.

So when will these people vote Democratic.... or is this all going to get funded with bake sales? Surely this organization isn't going to be asking for government money! Palin and Beck would be so disappointed in them.

And, they've got to pay Bristol $14K

8. I have something against her. I think she's a phony and a hypocrite just like mom.
Her little cutesy magazine picture with her baby and the tea setting, her other magazine covers. She's using her name to make money, not be a role model.
