80K in parties in Vegas... for the kids of Michael Jordan's kids |
|
No, don't shock me, or surprise me. But it is insensitive to even go on the tweeter and go SEE I DID THIS.
Now you think Michael Jordan lives IN THE ECONOMY like the rest of us?
Now I do hope though that he has a hard one on one with the kids.
Now why doesn't it shock me? I've known some people who can safely spend that much money in a weekend. Most of the time the kids go on and on how much they spent, while the people who actually MADE that money don't. They know the value...
But this also happened in the depression and I am sure Michael Jordan is worried about his image, and rightly so. Why it matters? It is a window into how the two percenters live.

1. Rich people blowing a bunch of cash is actually good for the economy. |
|
it is when they hoard it and refuse to lend that brings problems

why do you think he had quite a bit of the tweets actually removed from the tweeter? Image control and if you do not get it, I cannot help you.

13. Maybe he changed his mind |
|
If I Tweeted, I'm sure I'd remove half the crap I posted.
Jordan's past caring about his image.
When he was pulling down 100 Mil a year in endorsements he had reason to care.

8. Well it was the bottom of the news |
|
but it caught my attention for other reasons.
As to the tweeter. In a disaster where our press is absent... it can be rather useful... see Quake in Mexico... Haiti to a point... and Iran...

I've never understood why people care about what people do with their own money.
If they're not breaking any laws, I don't care.

10. I was trying to make a point |
|
(and by the way SPEND to your heart's content)
That some people DO LIVE OUTSIDE the economy. That is what the 2% of income earners do.
Of course since these are not the Clinton who did not spend 2, 5 or even 10 million, we don't have the usual outrage.
That said Jordan does care because he realizes that little problem with IMAGE and IMAGE control, why he went to the tweeter and had some tweets removed. I also found it interesting where it fell in the news cast, but whatever you are right... we should never evah pay attention to things like this... after all we will never evah learn a fucking thing about society, or values for that matter.
So forgive me for intruding with the Sociological and economics observation.
Now let me go flog myself.

You said something and I responded.
There are people who live outside the economy? That's not exactly breaking news. There always have been these folks and there always will be. Call them Chieftains, Nobles, Priests, Barons, CEOs, Party Elite, Celebrities or whatever. They exist.
No need to flog yourself, I was just commenting on how I don't get worked up over a fact of life.
No need to overreact.

15. No, not all barons live outside the economy |
|
but that is ok...
And I am not over reacting... but I'd better put my own thread on ignore. After all it don't matter.
(Actually it does, to those of us who are actually critics of our current system which by the way is NOT capitalism)
Now forgive me for even bringing any of this up, and I will just put my own thread on ignore.
No need to say any thing more.

11. So what? why do people think they can dictate how other people spend their own money? |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-25-10 06:17 PM by HipChick
Paris Hilton spend a month flying around on a private jet, with a bed, spending tons of cash and posted on Twitter...is any one outraged about that? or just MJ's kids?...and the amount was $56K...I don't consider them kids...they are of legal age..ie adults
There will always be have and have-nots...always has been
