I like instituting a social security tax on capital gains.
Wish I had thought of it.

1. Here's another idea
Who said that the employer and employee shares of Social Security contributions had to be equal? You could easily implement a system where corporations are rated by profitability or size as to whether they pay one, two or three percent higher than their employees pay for FICA taxes.

Further, if you raise the wage base on employees, you raise their maximum monthly benefit, why not simply raise the wage base to infinite on the employer share? It would have no effect on the jobs that the vast majority of Americans get paid for, but will impact the places that pay the megabucks to drones that sit on their asses while wrecking the economy.

3. or, you could make them pay INCOME TAX. AND CAPITAL GAINS TAX.
and then they could repay the TRUST FUND.

instead of trying to turn social security into A WELFARE PROGRAM.

4. Clearly, we need to raise income taxes and such
on the richest Americans, this is something that you and I can agree on. But those raises will need to go to reduce the annual budget deficit, and return us to the budget surpluses of the Clinton years.

Are you saying that raising the employer share of FICA taxes would turn Social Security into a welfare program?

2. Payout is commiserate to contributions. Are you proposing breaking that relationship?
Also are only capital gains for individuals affected? Won't that give corporations retirement plans hedge funds etc an advantage over the little guy? As if mom and pop aren't already disadvantaged against high frequency traders.
