I spent too much time with a trust fund liberal over the weekend |
|
A wealthy man who is in a relationship with a member of my family. His father made a fortune and gave it to his children a couple of years ago.
I've never been around a trust funder before. I have to say he was the most vapid, dull, affected liberal I've ever met.
Wow. Spare me from that kind, if that is what wealth does to Democrats. The deepest comment of the day was regarding the class marker of showering at the end of the day or the beginning.

8. apparently poor folk (laborers) shower at night |
|
...and folks with more money shower in the morning. Actually, this guy's pre-teen son raised it as a class marker. I think class is important to them.
Oh, and he had to have the tab for lunch split three ways (five people total at the table). And complained about his partner paying $9 for five light rail tickets uptown when we could have all walked. (We were on a short time frame at that point.)

14. Well he has no idea what he is talking about |

when it comes to class. So he is in the prick category... and that is family upbringing, nothing to do with politics.

Waahhh!!!
I came from rich people in the 1920s who ended up next to nothing in the late 960s. The elevator going up also goes down. ;)

In my family, my grandparents were always saying "We should have kept the mineral rights!" to family land long gone. I would own a goodly portion of riverfront property in Connecticut if *somebody* had held on to it. :-)

11. And that could not be his personality right? |
|
Money does not transform people that badly...
By the way I have met people who ARE RICH... not small trust funds (I have no way to know), but I mean REAL RICH... as in numbers people here cannot even comprehend at times... yes the 0.5% of income earners.
Some were paranoid, but I'm sure you'd expect that. Of course they were paranoid before they made that money.
Some were horrible people in a few ways... they were like that before they made the money.
And a few were family loving, community supporting, paragons of their community. They were like that before they made all that money.
Of course they are also a product of a war, and a whole different generation... and in their lives they saw horrors that most people cannot imagine. So I blame their personality quirks on that.
Of course I also have known people who have not two cents to rub together and like their counterparts, well they come in all flavors. So I prefer to judge the person by who they are... and not necessarily their bank account. But that is just me.

Of course I am generalizing. It's just such a waste when someone with enormous resources is caught up in such trivialities. Blah.

What is trivial to you, matters to others, and what is trivial to others matters to you.
Hell, I have been told in the recent past that a certain Basketball player was a matter of life and death, while the health care bill was trivial.
So there you have it.

20. Trust fund liberals are certainly annoying, but you know what is worse? |
|
A trust fund conservative.
You can tolerate being around a trust fund liberal if you have to (at say a social gathering, etc.), but a trust fund conservative will just make you physically sick.

So a liberal with money puts on a whole different kind of lifestyle fuss. The son can only play "non-competitive" board games. The man is high-maintenance in many aspects of daily life. It's artifice of a different kind.

26. I really hate shit like this. I know some wealthy people who are really great |

individuals and I know some "solid working class" people who are total assholes and not worth the air they breathe.
OP, you are discriminating against people you have not met on the basis of one jerk. There are vapid morons in every social class, every economic bracket, every neighborhood, and yes, even among liberal Democrats!
A "religious" guy I used to work with used to say,"God must love assholes, he made so many of them."
