"Males have higher insurance." Maybe CAR insurance.

Somebody said this on an extinct thread.

IME, men (in general) have higher CAR insurance than women.

IME, women (in general) have higher MEDICAL insurance, if you have an individual medical plan.

5. Eh, they also make more money, and with less education.
So it's a wash.

But seriously, insurance is based on risk assessment - so if statistics say that men are more likely to get in a car accident, then the risk is higher.

6. that's because
men, between the ages of 18 to 40, as a general rule, don't go to the doctor...my B-I-L the surgeon says that is one of the biggest crisis in health care...so their reported costs to the insurance companies are much lower.

Couple that with the fact that a large proportion of women are the opposite (they visit the Dr. more regularly) and they are likely to get pregnant during that same age range, their paid out claims are going to be higher.

Thus, women's rates are going to be higher.
