Oh, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!
Ex-EBay CEO Whitman Leads Brown by 8 Points in California Race, Poll Finds

Republican Meg Whitman, the former EBay Inc. chief executive officer, has pulled ahead of Democratic rival Jerry Brown in California’s gubernatorial race, according to an opinion poll.

Whitman is supported by 48 percent of likely voters in the November election, an 8 percentage-point lead over Brown, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports, which uses automated telephone calls to conduct its surveys. The results are a switch from earlier this month, when the company found Brown leading Whitman by 43 percent to 41 percent.

A separate poll released last month showed that the ex- executive and Brown, a former two-term California governor who is currently the state’s attorney general, were in a virtual tie in the race to replace Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican who must step down in January because of term limits.

1. Frankly, I do not trust polls any longer.
I wish the Dems had put up a stronger candidate tho.

4. I hope you are right too, and the poll just sucks. Automated
telephone survey. You have no idea how many were just too busy to sit and listen to the robot ask questions, and press 1 for whatever. I, for one, automatically hang up on robo-calls, never even listen to who it is. So here's hoping that is the case here. Remember, the only poll that matters is the ballot box.

Less than important.

13. Everyone except retirees hang up on them.
The pollsters know this; Rasmussen is so obviously spin-driven it's not even funny anymore.

6. Every now and then, voters need to make a mistake
If they don't elect Republicans, how can they know how bad they are? Schwarzenegger has been bad enough, of course, but I suspect Whitman would be far worse.

9. Rasmussen systematically overcounts
Republicans in pre-election polling. They are trying to create a buzz.

14. This is a meaningless poll.
Automated polls are and have always been a joke, and Rasmussen polls even more so.

12. "Rasmussen Reports" is mostly BS
a Rethug-slanted polling firm which is well known for doing "narrative" polls, especially early in a race, which usually shows Rethugs doing much better than they do in any other more independent polls. And they are notorious for "rearranging" things to reflect more truthful numbers as the fall elections approach, when there usually will be more reliable and realistic polls for making comparisons.

17. Even if Rasmussen wasn't complete BS, it's an eternity until November
in political time, that is.

I fully expect Brown to make some hay with the City of Bell situation.

19. This is terrifying to say the least
The one thing above all else I wanted this election cycle is for Meg Whitman to loose, if Meg wins and the national economy eventually recovers (which isn't a given) she will run for president and bury us in money, the thought of that possibility makes me want to cry.
