Christ's love shining on Free Republic "burn the Koran" thread
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2576047/posts

Do unto others? Love thy enemy? Not for Freeper "christians," who are foaming at the mouth at the prospect of burning, peeing on, defecating on, etc etc. the Koran. Can you imagine the hysteria if Muslims were doing these things to the Bible?

Total, complete insanity on this thread.

1. I remember as a kid in Catholic school in the fifties we were taught about the Crusades.
The Muslims were called Moors in those classes. The Crusades were all about protecting the Holy Land from the Moors. Also they needed to drive the Moors out of Spain and Portugal.

It was a long time ago so I may have a poor recollection but that is the gist of what I was taught. Implied in the lessons was the idea that the Moors were bad and the Crusaders were good. I carried that idea with me for a long time. Then I learned that the Moors had in door plumbing in Spain and that our number system came from them. I owned Arabian horses and learn that their characteristics came from their ancestors who lived in the desert with their humans the Moors.

A lot of us were taught to hate Muslims as a kid. We can unlearn that with more information.

20. The Moors were hardly friendly conquerors
of the fluffy bunny variety. But the Crusades covered a wide period, and people tend to only remember the latter ones.

2. How are they getting these Korans?
Certainly if they are buying them to burn them, can they see their stupid burning statement means nothing, yet they are actually funding Muslims by buying Korans to burn. Hell, if I sold a book, I would want people to burn it, as long as they paid for it.

14. You can buy an English version of the Koran in paperback from Penguin books.
Edited on Thu Aug-26-10 02:37 PM by 4lbs
It's only $5 and I don't think you'd be funding Muslims by purchasing it.

Now, if you purchase an Arabic version from an Islamic store, then yes.

My father has a special larger version that he purchased for $80. It has English on the left page, and the equivalent Arabic text on the right. It's a hardcover.

3. So, these assholes need to do this to put "Muslim tolerance" to the test?
Do these idiots even know the definition of irony? They have to fail their tolerance test so they can apply the same to Muslims? Their logic is dizzying. They've failed before they've even begun. Epic fail.

15. Listen to what this freeper had to say:

Well By Allah, quit burning Christian Churches and Synagogues....has anyone ever burned a Mosque? I am sure all books containing religious writings have been destroyed since the inception of print. Tolerance, you people of all faiths........

This guy is seriously ignorant. When Christianity was in the Dark Ages after the fall of Rome, and during the Middle Ages when the church was burning all non-religious books, it was the Muslims who saved everything from Europe. All those books by the Greeks and Romans on philosophy, mathematics, etc etc we owe to the Muslims.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age
< wiki >
During this period the Muslim world became a major intellectual centre for science, philosophy, medicine and education. They established the "House of Wisdom" (Arabic:بيت الحكمة) in Baghdad, where scholars, both Muslim and non-Muslim, sought to gather and translate all the world's knowledge into Arabic in the Translation Movement. Many classic works of antiquity that would otherwise have been forgotten were translated into Arabic and later in turn translated into Turkish, Sindhi, Persian, Hebrew and Latin. Knowledge was synthesized from works originating in ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Rome, China, India, Persia, Ancient Egypt, North Africa, Ancient Greece and Byzantine civilizations

16. Here's another nugget of joy from Freeperville:

< freep >
If there are any terrorist attacks, the media and the left will say that the attacks were justified.

In other words, burning a book is morally worse than killing humans.

That’s why we say that liberalism is a mental illness.

So this freeper is obviously pro book burning.

17. keyboard kommandos!
lots of tough guys over at FR.

Fortunately, I've encountered their kind in the real world, including one yutz who thought that all 1 billion Muslims in the world deserved to die. I was like ok, yea right, but no, he was serious. So I erupted and put him in his place and this guy cowered in his seat, saying nothing the rest of the night. He couldn't even look me in the eye after that.

Cowards.

Edited on Thu Aug-26-10 03:25 PM by azureblue
Sorry, I don't want to go there, but put this up, and see what the response will be:

I refer you to Matthew 7, vs 1-5, quoted here from the King James Bible. Why you refuse to do what your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ told you to do? There is no parsing of His words- they are absolute and the words of Salvation. If you refuse and ignore His Holy words, then your refuse and ignore Jesus, and condemn yourself to eternal Hell.

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
