Is anyone else identifying with the cursed Trojan princess Cassandra?
In case there are some who haven't a clue what I mean, Cassandra was the sister of Paris, the Paris who took Helen from the Spartans and started the legendary 10 year siege.

She was granted by the sun god Apollo the ability to know the future but when she rebuked his advances, was cursed by the jilted god so that everyone around her would not believe anything she said.

I feel that way, especially when i talk to my clients and family and some friends who just believe all the easy stuff such as that big horse out there is the Greeks sign of surrender...

Be wary of Greeks bearing gifts, so said Cassandra.

I argued up and down the wall that cutting taxes on the wealthy at the expense of programs for the poor and middle class would be the ruin of this country and everyone mocked me, said I had to take a leap of faith, that I was captivated by the nanny state...

All I can say to those who doubted me is here is your proof.

And how do these deluded folks answer?

We need more tax cuts in order to stimulate the economy.

What roils me is that these people who are calling for the repeal of the sunset provision on the tax cuts wouldn't be affected by the legislation expiring. They are gleefully willing to shovel more money upward in hopes that a little will trickle down to them....

Cassandra, indeed.

I just pray they don't lock me in Priam's dungeon when my truth telling starts to annoy them...

1. Well, Cassie...
"A fake fortuneteller can be tolerated. But an authentic soothsayer should be shot on sight. Cassandra did not get half the kicking around she deserved. "

2. I remember Cassandra...
But I'd forgotten the rest.

VERY appropriate for today, I think.

Yeah, more tax cuts to stimulate the economy, right! Oh god. How stupid can they get? Apparently, there's no limit on that.

Nobody's gonna lock you in any dungeon. Not if I have anything to say about it!

Recommended, and Greatest Page for you...

3. I was shouting when Clinton offshored jobs
and deregulated banks. I was being "unreasonable" and "unrealistic". History tells us what happened.

This is why I'm so unrelenting in criticizing today's swinish moves - there will be consequences.

6. I'm in Priam's dungeon.
I once had a sigline that said "I told you so."

Now I have no sigline at all.
