I don't remember who said it, but it went like this: |
|
"The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off."
Maybe if enough folks get pissed off before November, we can keep the Congress from going over to the Republicans.
Maybe.

7. You mean, the truth about our country? |
|
Is that what you are referring to?

11. I was asking you... you implied it was making you miserable. |
|
IF that is what you are meaning, I definitely relate.
When I was young in my dirtyhippiecommiepinkobum days, and protesting the Vietnam war, and active in many other causes, I was reading the underground papers in Berkeley, and hearing what profs had to say, etc.
What I learned about my country was deeply upsetting, and I went into a funk. I will never forget the effect "truth" had on me.
So, if you were referring to yourself, I understand what you are saying. It is very hard to really grasp what our country is doing, especially knowing that as a democracy, we citizens have responsibility.
I also think this is why so many people are apathetic, and don't get involved. I think they instinctively know that it will be upsetting to them, and they don't wish to be upset. For many, that is a very reasonable wish. There are many vulnerable people who need to take care of themselves, and not push themselves over the edge. There are people like single mothers who can't risk getting too upset.
It is somewhat of a conundrum.

Congress will remain in Democratic hands, both houses. I will bet the next four takers a $10 donation to DU that it will be so.
