I don't remember who said it, but it went like this:
"The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off."

Maybe if enough folks get pissed off before November, we can keep the Congress from going over to the Republicans.

Maybe.

7. You mean, the truth about our country?
Is that what you are referring to?

9. He was right when he said the truth will make us miserable.
Was he talking about our country? I don't know.

11. I was asking you... you implied it was making you miserable.
IF that is what you are meaning, I definitely relate.

When I was young in my dirtyhippiecommiepinkobum days, and protesting the Vietnam war, and active in many other causes, I was reading the underground papers in Berkeley, and hearing what profs had to say, etc.

What I learned about my country was deeply upsetting, and I went into a funk. I will never forget the effect "truth" had on me.

So, if you were referring to yourself, I understand what you are saying. It is very hard to really grasp what our country is doing, especially knowing that as a democracy, we citizens have responsibility.

I also think this is why so many people are apathetic, and don't get involved. I think they instinctively know that it will be upsetting to them, and they don't wish to be upset. For many, that is a very reasonable wish. There are many vulnerable people who need to take care of themselves, and not push themselves over the edge. There are people like single mothers who can't risk getting too upset.

It is somewhat of a conundrum.

17. You are correct; I did mean it was making me miserable...
Your points are well taken.

Thank you for clarifying.

4. Here's a little truth
Congress will remain in Democratic hands, both houses. I will bet the next four takers a $10 donation to DU that it will be so.

14. Maybe....
"There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting" said by the Buddha

We started on the road fighting for the truth and now we need to continue (in righteous anger)

Thanks Peggy for the push

22. It's pretty simple, you have to give up childish wishes if you want the
truth...

I think that is what all of this really means...

Reality often times sucks, but it is better for all of us in the long run...

24. I think you're absolutely right.
I would much rather face the sucky truth than be lulled into the fantasy lies. Waking up from those is horrifying...
