Edited on Wed May-16-07 04:34 PM by Guy Whitey Corngood
NEW YORK—At a well-attended rally in front of his new Ground Zero headquarters Monday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani officially announced his plan to run for president of 9/11.

"My fellow citizens of 9/11, today I will make you a promise," said Giuliani during his 18-minute announcement speech in front of a charred and torn American flag. "As president of 9/11, I will usher in a bold new 9/11 for all."

6. Ron Paul
Everything Ron Paul said was true, but he will never win the argument because he allowed Rudy to step in and take over. Rudy turned his words around, misinterpreted the truth and RP should have told him to shut up, it was not his time to say anything. And the mods should have told Rudy to zip it immediately. It's too late now for RP- the public will not listen to an explanation. Too bad.

16. It was awesome
I don't understand why the Dems don't bring this up over and over again with the question- does it look like Bush EVER plans to leave? What Fox allowed Rudy to do was inexcusable! Just watching Brit Hume news and they are falling all over themselves re how great Rudy was. Not a word on why he was allowed to butt in.

23. You're sort of correct.
However, Ron Paul didn't "allow" Rudy to step in and take over. Paul held his own, but the media isn't reporting on him day-in and day-out, so we don't get to hear his take ad nauseum like we do Rudy's.

It's the media, not Paul, who are to blame.

7. Considering he helped facilitate the fiasco...
...maybe he does have a claim to some responsibility.

I hope that at least one of these milquetoast politicians running against Rudy has the spine to throw his complicity in the whole mess back in his face. It's his biggest prop thus far and reminding Americans that ignorance of advice on location of facilities and the sub-par communications snafus rest firmly on his shoulders would certainly take some wind out of his sails.

8. Well since the Twin Towers defied the laws of physics...
...when they fell without any explosives being used, I think Rudy has the power to go beyond physics! Imagine those buildings falling at near free-fall speed in 15 seconds... Rudy used his Secret Powers to make those towers fall so that others could live...

I just love the way they exploit the very thing that they SHOULD be the most ashamed of, their failure to prevent the attacks after dozens of warnings.

21. Part of me hopes he does win the Rep. nomination, just to bury this crap for good.
If Rudy is the Gooper nominee, he'll have to run on 9-11.

Anyone else who faces Rudy will have to call him on it.

I'd like to think that any Democratic candidate could kick his sorry ass to the curb, and in the process, finally get us out of this stupid "pre-/post-September 11" loop we've been stuck in.

We're seriously overdue placing 9/11 in its proper historical context, rather than continuing to use it as a crutch.

22. The grotesque overreaction to 9/11 continues, 5 years later.
We're seriously overdue placing 9/11 in its proper historical context, rather than continuing to use it as a crutch.

I have never heard of a supposedly strong nation getting itself into such a tizzy over one attack. It's more than 5 1/2 years later now, and some politicians, notably Rudy and the Chimp, still say "9/11" in response to every question on every subject.

The overreaction started right after the attack, when the TV news channels covered this story and only this story, without even any commercials, for weeks and weeks and weeks afterward. I actually began to think there would never again be any reporting on any other subject in my lifetime.

The Republicans seem to want Americans to quake in fear forever in response to this one attack. What ever happened to the "home of the brave"? Apparently it went the same way as the "land of the free".

29. Do you think most Americans are on to this?
I think they probably are, they just need to be given a little legitimacy. If Democratic candidates could start hyping this, start asking Americans to approach our security needs rationally, rather than just as a very overlong kneejerk reaction to one attack, I really think it would resonate.

Kerry did try, I think, but it was too soon to overcome the stubborn resiliency of fear. Now, it seems way overdue.

26. Why isn't Saint Rudy questioned about all the problems that have
resulted since his "leadership" ("let's walk this way," "let's walk the other way") on 9/11? Emergency workers couldn't talk to one another which resulted in many of their deaths. Rescuers were told the air was ducky and some have since died from breathing it. Remains were paved over. And, of course, Rudy's emergency control center had been placed in one of the towers AT HIS INSISTENCE. He might as well have been in Crawford cutting brush prior to the attacks because he was as clueless as clueless could be.

27. Then Why's There Still A Hole In The Ground????
I went to see Ground Zero a year ago...all I saw was a large fenced off hole in the ground. If I go back today, I'll see that same hole.

One would think that if "Mr. America's Mayor" was so strong, he would have spearheaded the rebuilding of the WTC or some kind of memorial/building on the site rather than to leave that hole in the ground as a reminder of the success of those who planned the attack that day.

In the 60's, McCormick Place...then the largest exhibition hall in the country burned to the ground. It didn't take long for Mayor Richard J. Daley to get the money and cut the red tape and a newer and bigger McCormick Place was up and operating in two years. I'm sure others can cite similar accomplishments in their town...rebuilding is the most important step to moving on.

Yep, Rudy wears 9/11 like an ugly guy wear a steak around his neck to get the dog to like him. The fact he refuses to look at this attack as something that COULD have been provoked by American actions shows how really ignorant he is. Let him own 9/11...it's becoming more and more a symbol of shame than honor. It's like trying to own the Titanic sinking.

30. This is the same tactic media used in 2002 and 2004 - Bush OWNS the terror issue
Edited on Thu May-17-07 08:56 AM by blm
and no one can touch him on it.

So, they conveniently FORGOT to mention that Senator John Kerry owned the terror issue back when he first uncovered IranContra, BCCI and the CIA drugrunning that facilitated the funding of the global terror networks. And they forgot to mention his 1997 book The New War that WARNED of the growing strength of these networks and how they were being funded.

9-11 changed everything for the media - they came out of the closet as full on propagandists for BushInc.
