Is MSNBC testing Cenk Uygur
to see if he's ready for his own show? I've never seen a guest host fill in so effortlessly. The first time he filled in for Ed Schultz, it was if he'd done it 100 times and I'm never disappointed that the show has a guest host.

It's true you can watch him on MSNBC every Tuesday at 4:45pm ET on The Dylan Ratigan Show and every Friday after 3pm ET on MSNBC Live.

PS---Cenk is guest hosting The Dylan Ratigan show Monday August 30th - Friday September 3rd (4-5pm ET, 1-2pm PT).

Cenk Uygur Becoming MSNBC Friday Regular
By Kevin Allocca on Jul 16, 2010 03:41 PM

Cenk Uygur, host of talk-radio show "The Young Turks," tweets, "I will be appearing on MSNBC at 3PM ET EVERY Friday from now on...The more people watch, the better." A spokesperson confirms that Uyger's now booked as a regular Friday guest. He had made a brief appearance today at 3:10pmET. He guest-hosted the 4pmET hour earlier this month for Dylan Ratigan.

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/msnbc/cenk_uygur_becoming_msnbc_friday_regular_167922.asp

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But this makes it sound as though he's just going to be a guest every Friday? It seems as though they're priming him for something. He does an excellent job. Whenever I watch the Young Turks I'm always impressed by him, so I'm glad he's getting recognized.
:hi:
much like that, as a regular on Road to the White House (awful show). Obviously they never regretted their decision to give her a show of her own. I am so impressed with Cenk. He would be a perfect fit for MSNBC.
30. I know, I'd forgotten about it too
until I started to remember Rachel's path to her own show. What a horrible show that was.
I know what you mean, MSNBC needs to push those reruns until much later. I guess that is already the plan though, as in September Lawrence O'Donnell will have his own show after Rachel. Still don't understand that early rerun of Hardball, very annoying to have a rerun at 4:00 pm of a show I'd just seen.
16. That is a good sign
A lot of people make good guests, but can't carry an entire show as a host. As a result, I'm sure many viewers switch channels if Keith or Rachel are off. With Cenk, I'm more inclined to watch a program if he is on it.
Both of them I find hard to watch. Olberman speaks like he's constantly struggling to breath (especially cause he is purposely so dramatic) and Cenk points out the obvious and acts like he's some genius. Seems the only commentators that don't annoy the piss out of me are in newspapers.
I always think that about Cenk too. Especially when he tells those stories that never seem to reach a point. Whenever I see him I can't help but think of the old Chris Farley bit on SNL when he would do bad interviews of famous guests.
25. Cenk describes himself as a centrist former Republican.
I suspect the very conservative owners of GE-NBC want to limit the number of liberals on air and/or make sure the ones they have know how to stay in bounds. I like Olbermann but he knows how to be a good company man. Rachel...I worry about how long she'll last before getting the Donahue treatment.
as they weren't on when I was driving to and from work. From what I did hear, I prefer her TV presence. She is both unique and informative. Everyone else seems to play the same storylines all day long and Rachel is a refreshing change of pace. And she is so darn likable. Nice change from the angry yelling that often precedes her. Because she is so "nice", she conducts some really impressive interviews with conservatives.
You may be right. But the boundaries are noticeable. I'm fine with Olbermann criticizing Obama, but it's odd that he finally really went after him after the BP spill speech. That's the speech where Obama went against the fossil fuel industry and the core anti-government philosophy that GE has been pushing since they launched Ronald Reagan's career. Keith's dramatic overraction to the pushback makes me wonder.
Why is it that the time Keith really goes after Obama the most is for a speech that attacked the core interests of NBC's parent company, and why was Keith so overly defensive about it?
I think she is safe. They paid to send her to Iraq and now New Orleans. Before that, there was the trip to the Gulf Coast to report on the oil spill. 67. You decide which group you're in
1. There are people who uncritically hate the Democratic party/Obama admin no matter what, more or less.
2. There are people who uncritically love the Democratic party/Obama admin no matter what, more or less.
3. There are people in between that give praise AND criticism when due, more or less.
I (and many others) are happy to be in that third group, which the second group often mistakes for the first.
I would consider myself in that third group, part of actually being a real "liberal". Blindly following any person or party is how I generally view most republicans. Unlike our counterparts, we demand accountability of our leaders.
