'Savage Love' pulled in NW Arkansas after just one column

Tom Stallbaumer, publisher of the Springdale Morning News, said a syndicated column titled "Savage Love" written by Dan Savage will not appear in The Free Weekly again.

The Free Weekly, owned by Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC, is an alternative newspaper distributed at no cost to readers in Northwest Arkansas. NAN is a partnership between Stephens Media of Las Vegas and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Inc., a subsidiary of Wecho Media Inc. of Little Rock.*

The Free Weekly, or TFW, ran an installment of the sex advice column on Aug. 19. The column included explicit advice on anal and lesbian sex, masturbation and pornography.

...Dennis Nelms is owner of Adventure Subaru in Fayetteville, which had a full-page color ad on the back cover of TFW.

... "I called them that day and said, 'Hey, I don't want to be anywhere near anything like that again,'" Nelms said.

...but Savage Love is a pretty racy column. I can't see it being in anything other than a fairly sophisticated adult oriented arts and entertainment weekly.
