“We see Glenn Beck as a guy who is bringing revelations of understanding to the American people,”
THIS is what we're up against...

Beck-Palin Rally in Washington Drawing Supporters of `Babies, Guns, Jesus'

snip//

Representative Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican, said he asked people to donate to the event, saying in an interview that it was a “good thing for our country.”

Americans for Prosperity, another Tea Party group, is holding its political action convention in Washington over the weekend and busing people to the rally.

And FreedomWorks, a political organizing group affiliated with the Tea Party, expects 1,600 people to attend its gathering in Washington today. Members will hear lectures by leaders including Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, who organized a Tea Party caucus in Congress, and will be briefed on how to organize voters to support conservative candidates.

“We see Glenn Beck as a guy who is bringing revelations of understanding to the American people,” FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey, a former congressman from Texas and House majority leader, said in an interview. “Glenn Beck is the instructional arm of the small-government movement and we are the action arm.”

2. Here's hoping hardly anybody attends this event tomorrow
and that those who do are driven home by a sudden summer thunderstorm with ample thunder and lightening.

Maybe a flash flood thrown in for good measure.

I hope they all get parking tickets, too.

8. It's interesting that they're making such a fuss over this,
and also that they've scheduled it for the end of August.

A lot of families are settling into a new school year around this time and have just returned from a brief vacation, maybe. Now Beck wants them to put their lives on hold to come hear him lie and squawk at the Lincoln Memorial.

Good god, y'all.

So he can show all the links that lead to the conservatives going to war against king George over rich corporations being taxed to much. That is Glenns version of history after all. Just like Glenns belief that is was conservatives who started civil rights, good lord these nit wits need to go back to grade school.

feel safe. This is a modern day Klan rally. They should just call it was it is. Reminds me of when I was a kid living outside of Atlanta and there were still Klan rallies. The college kids used to go down and turn their backs to the rallies in silent protest. It means so much more when white people protest racism. People of color are apparently being "hypersensitive" when they charge racism.

Rev. Al Sharpton & National Action Network (NAN), along with civil rights leaders, clergy and progressive activist are to hold the "Reclaim the Dream Rally" and March on August 28, 2010 Martin Luther King, III, Ed Schultz, Marc Morial (NUL), Ben Jealous

Saturday, August 28, 2010 | 11:00 a.m. | Dunbar High School | 1301 New Jersey Avenue NW | Washington, DC | Rally and March to the King Memorial

Forty-seven years after the historic March on Washington, Reverend Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network and leaders from his over 47 National Action Network chapters across the country, along with heads of progressive organizations, unions and clergy, will lead a mass rally and march in Washington, DC on Saturday, August 28, 2010 to RECLAIM THE DREAM.

The rally will start at 11:00 a.m. at Dunbar High School, followed by a march to the King Memorial. Joining NAN will be a cross-section of organizations and principals including, but not limited to: National Action Network (NAN); United States Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, Martin Luther King, III, President, Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc.; Ed Schultz, Television and radio show host; Tom Joyner, The Tom Joyner Morning Show & Reach Media; Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League; Benjamin Todd Jealous, President of NAACP; Melanie L. Campbell, President of National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and Convener of the Black Women's Roundtable; representatives from Media Matters, and many other religious groups, labor unions, and organizations. While across town at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial the conservative tea party members and TV host Glenn Beck will attempt to hijack the dream, at the same time civil rights activists will convene at Dunbar High School to shed light upon key issues that have diminished the dream.
As we prepare to mark the 47th anniversary of his "I Have a Dream" speech on this date, Glenn Beck and others are expected to push for the expansion of states' rights - the exact antithesis of the civil rights movement and Dr. King's legacy.

According to Rev. Al Sharpton and NAN, when we study the intense struggle for civil rights in this nation, we quickly - and rightfully - find ourselves analyzing the life and legacy of the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We learn of his tireless efforts to achieve equality and justice for all of humanity, as we pass on legends of sit-ins, marches and boycotts to our children. But what we as a collective sometimes forget to impress upon the next generation is the depth to which Dr. King was an advocate the position that the federal government as he knew it was the only effective tool to ensure a unified system of equality in every state.

Today, the Tea Party and allied conservatives are trying to break that national stance on justice and, in turn, break the crux of what the civil rights movement symbolized and what Dr. King fought and literally died for. No one day was more important than that day forty-seven years ago when world stood still and heard the dream eloquently spoken by Dr. King. Event participants will Reclaim the Dream on Saturday, August 28th 2010.

27. Beck is the guy that "says what people who aren't thinking are thinking" - Jon Stewart.
Edited on Fri Aug-27-10 11:31 AM by Zorra
True dat.

Our nationally syndicated Kool-Aid Prophet really is "the guy who is bringing revelations of understanding to the American people”. His kool-aid drinking followers are part of a cult comprised of "people who aren't thinking", and the "revelations of understanding" they are getting from their "prophet" are nothing but the dystopic visions of a self-serving barely educated lunatic that appears to be prone to delusions of grandeur.

The kool-aid served up by Beck is the result of the combination of his shallow understanding, stemming from his lack of education combined with his long term substance abuse beginning at a young age, and his belief in the validity of improbable supernatural visions and occurrences. Beck's deep, dark, hate inspired fairy-tales can only possibly be believed by ignorant people who live their lives in fear and anger.

The "revelations of understanding" that Beck is bringing to Americans that have any common sense whatsoever are that Beck and his cult following are deranged, and that they are, collectively, a possible potential threat to the safety and well-being of innocent people.
