Palin Contract Released
Edited on Fri Aug-27-10 10:13 AM by cal04
A judge ordered California State University to release the complete contract for a Sarah Palin speaking engagement, which provides a rare glimpse into the business dealings of the former vice presidential candidate.

Palin requested $75,000 plus expenses for the speech, a hotel suite, first class airfare or a private Lear jet, pre-screened questions, and "bendable straws."

A portion of the contract was found in a dumpster last spring by students at the university.

Here's the contract:

Palin's contract released by CSU
Signature shows overlap of university, foundation

(snip)
The discrepancy centers on the separation between the university and its nonprofit foundation. The university is a public institution, but the nonprofit that supports it is regarded as a private group and its records are not subject to state open government laws.

But there's some overlap, as evidenced by the signature on Palin's contract.

5. Talk about anal. Who specifies "bendable straws" in a contract?

7. I used to think about those various bizarre requests in contracts as well
as being frivolous.

But actually, many times, but not always, requests for things like "only green M&M's" or "A basket of fruit with no pineapples", etc, are checks to make sure whom ever is to honor the contract, actually reads the contract.

These are usually put in by the agent.

So for example, the star shows up for a gig, and their contract specifies "no chairs with armrests" but upon arrival, there are chairs with armrests, then the stars agent has a legal out of the contract if there is a problem.

It's basically a failsafe clause.

Now, don't get me wrong, plenty of stars make asinine requests and because they are stars, they get them.

This was explained to me via an agent out in LA when I was working on a commercial with a particular star. His favorite thing to put in contracts was "a go-cart". LOL

He did this once with a very well known star who also happened to be up there in years (in his late 70's) When the star showed up on the location and saw the go-cart out in front of his trailer, the star made the comment, "whose fucking go-cart is this? Get it out of here!" LOL

8. For Sarah they should specify "red, blue, and green sharpies for making hand notes"

6. What organization would want to pay $75,000 to hear her say
"you betcha" or "okie-dokie"??? she certainly never has anything to say that is thought provoking! thought numbing maybe.
