Five years on. People should never forget.

Katrina happened 5 years ago this weekend. America should never forget that this

was part of a bigger picture of downright incompetence. Incompetence driven by a culture of greed and base politics. Fear and hate.

They talk of "Constitutional Conservatives" yet spit on that very document.

They talk of the deficit but will not say what they want cut just "government" and their solution for everything is tax cuts for for the same people who delivered this.

Are Americans that easily duped by Fox News that they will forget and forgive the crimes of the Republican Party who offer unreformed versions of the same thing that went before?

A new term in office? How about a term in prison for the damage that they did to the World?

People should REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER.

1. "Are Americans that easily duped by Fox News "
I hope not... but we'll see. I wouldn't be surprised.

I hope that Dems who are disappointed in our current leaders will still go out and vote (because the alternative is worse).

2. the whole event was horrendous
and having Bush/Cheney in the WH did not help either. Total negligence and inhumane treatment for all those who went through that.

4. Demcracy Now has a report on "Swimming Upstream"
which is a play written by 16 women who survived the horrors of Katrina.

3. And remember how well people had it? Barbara Bush thought they were living pretty
high on the hog in the communal atmosphere of the convention centers provided for them. Why, it was so much better than what many of them had at home.

Barbara Bush = MONSTER. (For saying that and for spewing out such filth she refers to as her sons.)

6. the death of a great American city . . . and it was intentional . . .
if the same thing had happened to, say, a city on Long Island, the federal response would have been no holds barred . . . for a city that is predominantly black, the response was a combination of not-so-beign neglect and outright thievery . . .

7. One of the most shameful events in American history.
I can think of few things worse, except maybe Vietnam, Iraq/Afghanistan, '60s assassinations, Medgar Evers, slavery. Truly awful, and still doing so much damage to the lives of the victims and their families.
