Hey, Congress? Yeah, You.. Pelosi, Conyers, Waxman, Leahy...
... ALL OF YOU... WHAT THE F**K MORE IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO GET A FIRE LIT UNDER YOUR ASSES SO YOU'LL DO YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL DUTIES AND MAKE THESE BLATANT CRIMINALS PAY FOR THEIR CRIMES. DO YOU HAVE THE GUTS AND SPINE TO DO IT, OR DO YOU CONDONE THEM, THEREBY MAKING YOU COMPLICIT IN THEIR ACTIONS? YOU'RE EITHER WITH US, WE THE PEOPLE, OR YOU'RE WITH THEM, THE WAR CRIMINALS AND PROFITEERS. TELL US NOW, RIGHT NOW!, WHERE YOU STAND.

WE'RE PISSED OFF AND WAITING FOR YOUR ANSWER....

82. CAREFUL BUDDY. YOU GOT NOTHING TO BACK YOU UP

Ever dawn on you that Congress or the legislative branch is in the same position you are...POWERLESS. Bush controls the armed services and DoJ controls the police. Maybe congress knows that if they go too far too quick that Bush would just say screw you. Just try and stop us. Then what are you gonna do big mouth, yell at 'em? Who is gonna serve the subpoenas? Who is gonna stop them from putting us in camps? The camps are already there all across the country. Just do a google search for FEMA camps. Films of the camps on youtube. It's a dangerous line the Legislative branch is walking right now with Justice and Executive branches teaming up. I hope Congress is not just avoiding doing their duty. I hope they are being deliberative and trying to cover all the bases because this is one scenario our founding fathers never considered. Our only option would be an "insurgency", with spears and arrows compared to tanks and nukes. Slowly, slowly move the horses of the night. A president who could continue reading a children's book while planes were hitting our towers would have no problem going on with lunch while the country screamed in flames. Right now all the troops are out of the country and I hope the country will still be the same when they return...and are much nearer our constitution (if you know what I mean)

134. I suspect that
some of the 24 US attys who find out now that their heads were on the chopping block for political reasons, suddenly may be converted.

I once heard an olde wive's tale:
When children grow up, they are liberals.
Once they are adults, and get mugged, they become conservatives.
Once they get mugged by the police, they return to their liberal roots.

When your boss is the DOJ, and they are the ones doing the mugging, watch for many of the US attys to start seeing the light and remembering that old, dated, quaint document called the constitution, that they swore to protect.

136. It seems totally improbable to me that they have never had any
plan for enforcing the due sanctions on such criminality, when they know it is the right* time. They don't look to me like people who are just going through the motions, just putting offf failure for as long as they can.

*The most effective time. If I had a member of my family in Iraq, I'd be going barmy, but your legislators are boxing up those malefactors like kippers, and I doubt if it's an exercise that should be rushed, or could be successfully.

131. I Know The Number Works... However I Was Put On Hold Several
several times for Senator Bill Nelson & Mel Martinez and then the line goes DEAD!!!

But then, THIS IS FLORIDA so I didn't expect much! Even when signing petitions from various organizations, Bill Nelson WILL NOT accept ANY of them. You have to call him directly or write to him directly. I'm on his "info update" list if that's what he wants to call it and I get emails from him about "yatty-yatty" but NONE of my Congressional People are easy to connect with.

Not only that... Vern Buchanan is up there, but he WASN'T really elected and I doubt he's listening much to ANY Democrat who calls. This is a County that's NOT much about "We The People" more along the lines of "You Got Screwed" and shut-up and go away!

The same thing happened when Cruella was the Representative here... you could NEVER get through to her office!

Sarasota Sucks!

We need a MAJOR fumigation of the cockroaches occupying
ALL branches of government.
That should be fairly obivious to any thinking person by now.
We need to start over because it is no longer of the people, by the people and for the people.
They are ALL owned and tied to the multi national corpoRATS.
And that is why the more things "change" the more they get worse.

America has died in the clutches of the global elite and our branches of
government have helped to kill this country at every turn.

We, the people?
A myth in the current state of affairs.

From each and every one of us that are fed up. There's more out there than we think. I see them every day in my business. Nothing grows without first planting a seed. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but that's just how it goes sometimes. It's up to us to help get the word out to as many people as we can, however we can.

I'm not shy about my politics either, and these 3 die hard repubs said there's no way they're voting for another repub in '08. I've been educating them about PNAC mostly, but tying all the repubs to the neocons.. it works out well... Stop supporting the mainstream, status-quo, corporate democrats and throw the weight of the collected party voice, vote, $$$, and commitment behind the ignored, less-than-respected Democrats who actually do work to oppose the opposition and to hold them accountable.

Don't cast another vote for a Democrat who doesn't have a solid, consistent, proven record of working for the average citizen, rather than working for power, and working to oppose rw corporate control of government.

Without a justice system Waxman, Conyers and Leahy can do nothing about their subpoenas being ignored.

There needs to be a fuss raised. The rest of Congress needs to start making a fuss. We need to push them into making a fuss by writing them and also writing LTTE's to our newspapers on the subject.

They should tell Bush and the country "We gave the troops all the funding they need. Bush, however, vetoed that money. He had a choice between funding and saving America's sons and daughters' lives or funding and saving his oil cronies' profits. And he chose his cronies' profits over our troops lives."

150. I really hope next year is the death of the two-party system.
It's been a long time coming. The two parties right now apparently don't give a shit. The republicans OBVIOUSLY don't give a shit, and the Dems cant get the job done that we elected them to do (ending the war).

I predict that we'll be seeing the rise of third, fourth, and even fifth parties in the years following the disastrous Bush II administration.

50. If they can't lead then they need to get out of the way.
If they can't uphold their oaths to the Constitution then they need to resign their leadership roles (Pelosi and Reid) and let those who are willing to make the decisions make them.

They aren't even hard decisions, the evidence is there, this administration has abused the office and ignored the Constitution and federal law.

Count me as one of the people that want our congress critters to uphold their oaths and do their jobs, as they were elected to do.

Granted, they (PNAC) would probably publish it on the Internet under the label of New Nine Eleven this time, or they won't publish it at all and will commit it anyway...

It's long overdue that Congress must do their job and make sure these gangsters face True Justice.

So true, UNfortunately.
Bush could morph into Hitler on national TV and the Congress
would call him "Mr. Rogers"
And if he was sporting an American Idol name badge, the
good duh'murikkkans would buy it hook, line and sinker.

Who will the next Duh'murikkkan Idol be?
George Adolph Bushler!

Won't you be my good German neighbor?

71. They aren't going to do anything.
Just more investigations and lots of talk. Gonzales is still in office. It makes me so proud to have a corporate weasel and bold-faced liar as the Chief Law Officer of the Land, and even prouder that Congress does nothing. Rice has basically told them to take their subpoenas and shove them. Bush will just write more "signing statements" and choose which laws and parts of laws he will or will not obey. And let's not even talk about Cheney and Rove's contempt for both Houses and their Committees, rules and laws. This administration believes they are above the law, and so far they are. They have and are still getting away with it all. They have systematically attacked checks and balances and done everything in their power to disembowel the Constitution and restrict civil liberties. Congress has been neutered by this administration. We're all clamoring for Pelosi to put impeachment back on the table and these fascist bastards are sawing the legs right off the table. I'm glad the Founding Fathers are dead because this would kill them.

The surge and war designed to ship our soldiers to far off lands as the stranglehold of fascism tightens its grip. There is nothing I would put past this cabal, and it is a frightening scenario you invoke. Unfortunately, I find myself uneasy in trying to refute your assertion.

Maybe it is time to arm myself in the face of such possibilities.

Keep speaking for yourself, hopefully someone will be brave enough to speak up for you once the curtain has been pulled back and these neocon thugs declare dictatorial powers. By then, it'll be way too late for Congress to act, as we won't have a Congress anymore, except for cronies and thugs.

Feel free to start your own "Hey, Congress? You're doin' a heckuva job" thread though. I'll even promise right now that I won't come come try tp piss on your parade, ok?

A solid House majority and 67 united Senators.

No more, no less.

Until we have that, dumping on the leadership basically amounts to grandstanding.

I agree with you completely.

But I'm also not tasked to create the kind of coalition that would be able to do what you wish for.

I wouldn't wish that task on my worst enemy.

So bear in mind the size of the mountain you want them to summit.

A solid House majority and 67 united Senators.

It's a lot easier to type "impeach" than it is to legislate it.

116. That was the whole point of that question, Mr. Pitt...
What more is it going to take for CONGRESS to act? What else do they need to see from this misadministration? How much more criminal activity and corruption needs to be exposed before CONGRESS can see that they NEED to get rid of these guys. What else does this misadministration have to do to get Congress to act on their impeachment?

Fear of failure CANNOT be a reason NOT to act and to at least TRY to do the right thing. When you write a book, do you start out knowing it's going to be a best seller, or do you just pour your heart and soul into it, put it out there, and hope for the best?

Fear of failure has our Government paralyzed right now. Frozen with fear, they cannot act to save us...

141. Fear of failure is no reason to NOT start the journey. If fear of failure was
a factor, we probably wouldn't even be America today. What if our forefathers were to afraid to fight for independence? No, fear of failure CANNOT be an obstacle for fighting for our very own freedoms.

It's time to take the kid gloves off and start fighting for our Country, our beliefs, and everything about us, as a nation, that we hold dear to our hearts. Just remember, we didn't start this war on our Democracy, but it's damn well past time we got off of our collective asses and started fighting back.

Peace,

Ghost

aren't there.

146. Reality is a fleeting, temporary thing, when you boil it down. Reality changes with every
tick of the clock. Whether we have the votes or not, we can't be afraid to move on this. If impeachment were put out there in the mainstream, instead of being whispered about in the halls and bathrooms, we could get more people onboard. Look at the numbers of R's starting to call for Gonzo's resignation. What do you think is going to happen once it sinks in that this goes all the way to the top?

The repugs are starting to wake up, either to try to save their own jobs in 2008, or because they are truly becoming horrified at the path we are on.

The only thing holding Congress, and the Dems, back is fear. Fear of failure. Waaaaahhh... they'll say bad things about us. Waaahhhh.. we don't have the votes.. Waaahhhhh... <insert lame excuse here>...

Impeachment: Build it, and they will come...

Peace,

Ghost

140. Amen to that!!
And what was this little "sneaker" they, meaning the WH and Congress, pushed through on trade agreements the other day? Is the Democratic Party just going to give us more of the same??

I am so tired of buying "Made in China". There is NOTHING made here anymore. Our jobs are all sent abroad for the profit..the bottom line. I'm sick of it....and yet our government goes ahead with another law to permit even more jobs to be moved out of country and more containers of "Made in Chinese" crap to move into this once great country.

I can hear the flush of the toilet, and I think we are swimming around in it.

Clinton was impeached for lying, about something that in no way hurt you or me. The GOPers at the White House lie EVERY DAY! About things that hur you and me and people all over the planet.

I voted against a Do Nothing Congress last time and I will next time too.

(This is SO NOT television Carville, get real, get a life, get something but get out of my life)

Dear ** S ********,

Anytime somebody says that they "don't recall" as much as Alberto Gonzales did, you can bet that they recall damn well whatever it is they did, they just never thought they'd have to account for it.

Republicans' feet are being held to the fire and they are being forced do all sorts of things they never wanted to do -- like answer questions about the Bush Administration's incompetence, debate the war in Iraq and get rid of tax breaks for Big Oil. With Republicans against the wall and out of power, there is no smear campaign too low or too cheap.

Need proof? Look at how quickly they got in line to lie about Speaker Pelosi's trip to the Middle East. Or that they've already launched attacks targeting the entire Democratic freshman class. Or the fact that not a day has gone by without a Republican claiming Democrats don't support the troops.

That's why the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has set up an emergency Rapid Response Fund to combat any dirty tactics the Republicans can throw at us. The fund will provide Democrats with the resources to not only fight back but to go on the offensive, expanding research and communications operations to hit vulnerable Republicans early with ads, Web videos and in the media. But, we won't stop there. To get our Rapid Response operations off the ground, the DCCC has a goal of raising $50,000 by May 25th -- will you help us today?

Stand up to Swift Boat Tactics -- Give $25, $50 or more to support the DCCC's Rapid Response Fund

For twelve years Republicans in the House of Representatives were living high on the hog. They never had to take a hard vote and got to pay back their big business benefactors with all sorts of goodies and favors. Your hard work has helped to hold these guys feet to the fire and has helped set the course for the Democratic Majority. Making a contribution today is the next step in helping to protect and build our lead in the face of these despicable attacks.

For the next two years, Republicans will do anything and everything to get back their power. And their fat cat allies, cut off from their corrupt federal gravy train, will be there to fund them.

Gearing up for 2008, Republicans are ready to fight dirtier and nastier then ever before. One of the reasons we were so successful in 2006 is Democrats let no attack go unanswered. It might cost a little right now but it will cost us a heck of a lot more in the future if we do nothing. Help us reach our goal of $50,000 today by giving what you can to our Rapid Response Fund.

Stand up to Swift Boat Tactics -- Give $25, $50 or more to support the DCCC's Rapid Response Fund

Democrats are already on the offense, running ads in states like New Mexico to hold entrenched Republican Heather Wilson accountable for her role in the firing of eight US federal prosecutors. Recently, the DCCC launched a web video to expose Republican John Doolittle and others about their connections to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Republicans are most dangerous when they're most desperate. We need to be prepared for what is coming. Get in the fight. Join me and let's get behind the DCCC's Rapid Response Fund operations.

Stand up to Swift Boat Tactics -- Give $25, $50 or more to support the DCCC's Rapid Response Fund

Thank you,

James Carville

P.S. The only game Republicans ever learned as children is follow the leader, and that's why, despite the fact that the good voters of the United States of America firmly slapped the Republican Party upside the head this past November, they'll continue to follow George Bush's disastrous policies like lemmings headed for a cliff. Get in the fight. Stand with your fellow Democrats against Republican "Swift Boat" tactics. Support the DCCC today.
