Are Wikileaks Activists Finally Realizing Their Founder Is a Megalomaniac?

Are Wikileaks Activists Finally Realizing Their Founder Is a Megalomaniac?Julian Assange's attempt to spin his creepy romancing of two Swedish women into a Pentagon smear campaign was a huge mistake. Now Assange's role as the head of the secret-sharing website WikiLeaks is in doubt. It's about time.

Assange was accused last week of rape and molestation in Sweden, where he'd hoped to set up a more permanent base for Wikileaks. (The rape accusation was quickly dropped, the molestation charge is pending.) Assange took to Twitter immediately, casting the charges as a Pentagon smear campaign. He told the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet: "We have been warned that the Pentagon, for example, is thinking of deploying dirty tricks to ruin us. And I have also been warned about sex traps."

Was it some sort of payback for Wikileaks massive Afghanistan leak? No. As more details emerged, we learned that the only conspiracy was hatched by Julian Assange's wandering dick against his better judgment.

The "dirty tricks" dissolved in the banalities of a botched tryst with what appear to be a couple of Swedish groupies. One, Anna Ardin, was a far-left radical who helped bring Assange to Sweden. A "close friend" of Assange told the Times "what was involved were personal animosities and grievances that flowed out of brief relationships Mr. Assange had with the women." (There's also some nonsense about Assange refusing to wear a condom, but we'll avoid that—if only to spare you the inevitable "leaking" puns.)

Somehow I think the author lacks the requisite objectivity.

There's little here that isn't hearsay.

And warnings came out before these charges - why not
Reference those?

30. Maybe you should stick to Fox News if you like that kind of slime
Fact free gossip sexed up with every insult this dimwit apparently could think of.

The accuser, Anna Ardin, who made the allegations and went to the tabloids is not an extreme leftist. She is an active member and local candidate of the mainstream social democrats, works for a Christian group within this party and is apparently one of those whacky feminists who closely cooperate with right-wing conservatives all the time, you know, introducing new laws against porn and prostitution and whatever may not be regulated yet.

All the completely irrelevant private details are unsourced gossip stories and rumors taken from blogs and four-paragraph articles in tabloids adorned with boobies and celebrity pics.

What this idiot author apparently doesn't know is that the prosecutor, Ms Maria Häljebo Kjellstrand, issued the arrest warrant based on nothing but a phone call and immediately - against every rule in the book - confirmed it to a gossip paper that mysteriously got wind of the story as soon as that phone call was made. She is married to Per Kjellstrand, member of staff of the Swedish Minister of Justice, Beatrice Ask, who is suspected of being in contact with the US regarding WikiLeaks and Julian Assange. They have a history of cooperating with the US regarding kidnappings and torture flights.

14. So the smear campaign continues. I don't care about his social and personal life.

If he has raped or molested someone he can be prosecuted.

Until that happens let's stop the smear campaign in its tracks!

21. I agree, it takes some pretty huge balls, or at least the belief that one has pretty big balls,
to do what Assange does. And I for one am glad he's a megalomaniac, if that's the term chosen to describe his confidence in what he does and why he does it. Other megalomaniacs that I'm fond of: Alan Grayson, Dennis Kucinich, Al Franken, Al Gore, Michael Moore, need I list more? It takes someone that will appear to be a narcissist or megalomaniac to the average plebe to take on the big issues.

32. So, riddle me this, Gawker
Let's assume, arguendo, that everything said about Assange is 100% absolutely true. Every last bit of it. How does that affect the information coming out about the Pentagon's prosecution of the illegal war and occupation against Afghanistan? I remember a certain President of the United States wanting to burglarize the office of Daniel Ellsburg's psychiatrist, as if whatever Ellsburg and his shrink discussed somehow vindicated all the lies the Pentagon had been spinning for a decade about Vietnam.

As regard allegations against Assange in Sweden, my response is so what? It doesn't change anything about Afghanistan. Shoot the messenger if you must, but the message remains the same. And what is the United States going to do about it, now that our crimes against humanity have been laid bare? Do we have the intestinal fortitude to come to grips with our own wrongdoing?

because the usintellapp is pulling out all the stops to discredit assange. it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see assange become increasingly despondent. it's just a matter of time before he's suicided.
