Ten Candidates File Suit as 'Massive Improprieties, Tampering' Seen in Shelby County, TN, Election

Election Watchdog: 'Most brutal voter disenfranchisement, election tampering case we have witnessed yet...like watching a 2 week bank robbery in process'...

While barreling westward across the Great Plains yesterday, I received an urgent text message from Bev Harris of the non-partisan election integrity watchdog organization BlackBoxVoting.org. She and Susan Pynchon, an election integrity advocate from Florida Fair Elections Coalition, had traveled to Shelby County (Memphis), Tennessee, following reports of massive voter disenfranchisement during the state's August 5th elections.

1. Voter box tampering and disenfranchisement
that must be in the works and why the republicans think they are going to take over. They must already have the ballot boxes programed for them to win. The old way, a paper ballot is the only way this election will be honest. The electronic boxes for voting are too damn easy to "fix". And the republicans have found a way to do it. How do you think Bush won in 2004.

2. And for some reason that completely escapes me, Election Reform
has never been seriously addressed by this Administration.

Perhaps it was and I missed the memo?

I'm at the point where I'm starting to believe that nobody sees a problem or wants to fix the problem, except us.

Go figure.

3. Thanks, Babsbunny...
Much appreciate your posting a link to my piece over here. Have been on the road with VERY limited time online, so wasn't able to get over here to shout about. But it NEEDS to be shouted about as anyone who reads the remarkable allegations here is certain to concur.

So thanks again!

5. More on this ....
Last fall, ES&S quietly purchased Diebold, giving them 80% of market for electronic voting machings. And it's not just the un-auditable vote-counting; they now also own polling place check-in software (electronic pollbooks), voter registration software and vote-by-mail authentication software.

http://www.benalexandra.com/cool_stuff/diebold_ess.htm

This link has very disturbing information, all with appropriate citations, regarding what could easily be a mass-manipulation of our elections.

They've already been caught registering voters who thought they were just signing petitions. Getting total registered voter numbers higher gives them more room to fudge numbers.

When you buy a pack of gum, you get a receipt. Why is there no receipt/audit trail on our votes? I can only think of one reason.

7. Worse than you think...
Scuba -

The info on ES&S & Diebold is already out of date. DoJ forced ES&S to divest due to anti-trust concerns. But it was too little, too late, and what happened instead is equally, if not more disturbing. Here's where we are now: http://www.bradblog.com/?p=7906

As to this: "When you buy a pack of gum, you get a receipt. Why is there no receipt/audit trail on our votes? I can only think of one reason."

There's another reason you can't have a "receipt". It would allow for easy vote buying and selling. No voter should ever be able to leave the polling place with such a "receipt".

That said, if voters are allowed to vote on paper, in their own hand, and those paper ballots are counted, in front of everyone, at the polling place, at the end of the day, with results posted there publicly before ballots are moved anywhere -- well then, then we'd have real democracy and self-governance. No "receipt" needed. Hope that helps!
