47 Hours from now

47 Hours from now the news cycle will be moving on to the next shiny object it finds amusing

47 days from now few will remember that this sideshow ever happened

47 years from now no one will even know who Beckkk was

But 47 years ago today...and still we remember...

23. Ditto SalviaBlue.....Perspective. Great post. My parents
were part of that march (I was 8). I remember the whole event and just feeling so damn proud that my white, WASP-y parents were part of that march. They talked to us about why they were marching and what the march meant. We lived in Washington (DC) at the time and I had many black friends from both the US and other countries -- when Mom & Dad put it in terms of my friends not being able to be my friends in lots of places (and with lots of parents), of them not being able to go to a diner and have dinner with us, of not being able to go to the same schools as I did, not being able to live in our neighborhood as 2 of my friends did......it sank in at the core of even a little 8-year-old. I got it and I was proud of them. Still am. It's one of the great days in history and one of the great days in my personal history.

Huge K&R

43. Thanks so much
It was hard losing her after 11 years, she was the best dog that ever lived IMO.

And yes, we found another dog, it was like lightning struck when I saw her on the Humane Society website. Same breed cross as Birdie was, 14 month old pup. She reminds me so much of Birdie sometimes it's uncanny. We still miss the old girl a lot but the new pup is helping the healing a lot, somehow life goes on. :)

60. I always adopt
I'm a sucker for a dog with a hard luck story. Birdie was a few hours away from the big sleep when I rescued her from the city animal shelter. She had a great long life with us, I hope we get to do the same with Olive.

53. I hope we still remember Beck
fifty years from now. As a reminder of how we as a country failed to stop an insane racist piece of shit from becoming one of the most important political figures of our time and how the media refused to stand up to his psychotic ravings. We will remember this time period in a negative light and Glenn Beck will be one of the main reasons for that.
