May I recommend this book? |
|
The author was on C-Span's Book TV last night, from an appearance at a DC Borders last month. A very impressive analysis of a really astonishing trend. http://www.amazon.com/Common-Nonsense-Glenn-Triumph-Ignorance/dp/0470557397

1. Why the hell wouldn't you be able to recommend a book? |
|
Congratulations on one of the dumbest OPs I've seen in the history of this site.

10. I didn't ask if I could. |
|
Nor did I ask, "Is it okay if I recommend this book?"
I simply phrased "Here's a book I suggest reading" in a way that I never imagined would be met with snark.
Unbelievable.
:wtf:

7. "Congratulations on one of the dumbest OPs I've seen in the history of this site." |
|
Are you out of your mind?
"May I introduce you to my friend, Tom?"
"May I suggest today's special, the Fricassee of Valium?"
It was a turn of a phrase intending civility. Are you having a difficult morning or is this post, is, literally, one of the dumbest OPs you've ever seen? If it is, then clearly you haven't been long on this site.
Did you REALLY mean what you said?
REALLY? <---NOT rhetorical
REALLY? <---Said again in expectation of an actual answer.

15. With nothing by which to judge you except the odious tone of your post . . . . |
|
. . . . to what other conclusion would you expect one to come?
The kindest thing that can be said of your original reply is "nasty."

Haven't read it, not sure I want to, it may cause me to be depressed. Seriously, I need my right wing factoids delivered with a shit load of comedy these days. Now this author who I didn't see, haven't read, very probably does a fine job per the OP who I trust. If you are not suffering from the symptoms I described, please check this book out. ;)

22. Sparkly, I have every intention of reading this book. |
|
I saw most of the CSPAN talk that Zaitchik gave yesterday and was impressed with the author.
The attendees questions mostly expressed puzzlement as to why Beck has drawn so many adherents.
I've never watched his (Beck's) show, have only seen clips on Olbermann --- and truly have never been able to make any sense of what he's talking about. He doesn't even seem to speak comprehensible English.
