Arizona Police Say Gunman Kills 5, Then Self
LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (Aug. 29) - A gunman entered a western Arizona home and killed the mother of his two children and three others before fleeing with the kids to California, where he fatally shot himself, police said Sunday.

In all, six people died. Officers responding to the home said they found four people shot dead and two others wounded. One of the injured died of his wounds early Sunday at a local hospital, police said.

The alleged gunman, identified as 26-year-old Brian Diez, was found dead hours later at a residence in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The two children - a 4-year-old and a 13-month-old - were unharmed at the house with relatives, police said.

Police went to the Lake Havasu City home after dispatchers received an emergency call at 11:57 p.m. Saturday from a woman who said an intruder had shot several people.

Police identified the dead as 23-year-old Deborah Langstaff, 24-year-old Primo Verdone, 42-year-old Russell Nyland and 20-year-old Ashley Nyland. Wounded were 20-year-old Brock Kelson and 44-year-old Deborah Nyland.

1. Some were just discussing in another thread how helpful guns are to woman.
This story illustrates the contrary.

3. Back to that logic, then? The women should have had guns and shot first?
No guns whatsoever makes much more sense.

5. I doubt that would have stopped him from killing them
guns or not, I'm fairly sure that he would have killed no matter what

6. By having a gun and ammo, all he had to do is point and pull the trigger.
Much too easy to snuff out the lives of people he had a grievance with.

It completely enabled him to work a great injustice.

8. Maybe, just maybe if
someone had been armed, the outcome would have been different. Nobody is saying that a gun is a magic talisman, but at least it might give you a fighting chance. Look, we get it, you don't like guns but until the BofR is changed and the 2nd Amend is abolished, guns will be legal and I sure don't see the 2nd Amend going away as I believe that 74% of americans believe that RKBA is an individual right and the SCOTUS has affirmed that twice now in the last year or so despite what you call a willful mis-interpertation.
