Sounds like Bud Chiles is going to do the right thing.
Lawton “Bud” Chiles still maintains his independent candidacy for governor, but it’s a candidacy you can stick a fork in. He’s done.

Watch him soon drop out of the race and endorse Alex Sink, the Democrat who wants the job once held by Bud’s late dad. Bud’s Democratic dad.

Bud, who’s no dummy, doesn’t want to go down in Florida history as the spoiler who handed the election to Republican Rick Scott. He could do precisely that, however, if he siphons critical votes from Sink.

2. Chiles, Such A Disappointment...
When I heard he was considering running, I was all excited. I hadn't embraced Alex Sink, I thought she was too moderate and this is just not a good year for a banker to be running. I also hated the idea that the candidate was sort of anointed without a real vote. But Chiles decided to run as an independent, and that did it for me. I guess he realized he was getting into the game too late to overtake Alex Sink in a primary since she'd been at it for months (years?)

3. I was in favor of Chiles when he first came in.
Sink hadn't yet made her presence known. The good news is that the two GOPers slugged themselves out of the game. I think it's her election to lose.
