Glenn Beck Launches “News And Opinion” Website, The Blaze, Tonight
Glenn Beck Launches “News And Opinion” Website, The Blaze, Tonight

Having conquered TV, radio, book publishing and now live events, Glenn Beck is looking to expand his media empire into a new arena – the web (obviously GlennBeck.com is thriving too).

Mediaite has the exclusive details about a news and opinion website Beck is launching tonight. Here’s what to expect.

Beck’s new site is called TheBlaze.com, and will be edited by Scott Baker, formerly of Breitbart TV and host of “The B-Cast”. In an exclusive statement, he tells Mediaite:

Our hope is that everyone who comes to The Blaze finds original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most. We are excited to launch and I look forward to keeping Scott and his team busy by sending countless ideas at 3am every morning.

We talked to Baker today about what readers can expect from the new site, the team behind it and more. “It’ll be news and information,” he told Mediaite. “Some commentary and opinion stories we’re interested in that are being under-covered or not covered.”

People will inevitably make the comparison to Arianna Huffington – whether Beck’s role as figurehead behind the site will make The Blaze into a conservative Huffington Post. “The one thing pretty clear around Mercury is that Glenn is not short on ideas or hesitant on input,” Baker said. “His input is already evident in how the site looks, and that’s what will continue. It will be a continual flow of tips and suggestions and encouragement.”

2. I'm tempted to become a 'contributor'
by scouring the 'net for the most outrageous conspiracy theories - running the gamut from alien bases in the Antarctic to Illuminati nonsense - and posting it as gospel. That oughta keep the little fuckers busy for awhile.

5. Oh my. An opportunity to take advantage of the unfortunately
ignorant. His site will be hacked and down before you can say 'bigot'. Maybe someone will post on Blaze from one of these Vegas news sources that's suing everybody. It's gonna be great entertainment watching this ass head fall.

A Message From Glenn

There comes a time when you have to stop complaining and do something. And so we decided to hire some actual journalists to launch a new website.

--------
So he agrees, up to now he's just been complaining?

19. And that he's not an actual journalist, lol. Actually he's made it a point of saying he's

"not a journalist," because if he were to claim he's a "journalist" he could be sued for libel/slander.

He only gets away with what he does because he claims to be an "entertainer," lol.

I'm sorry, but I have visions of the bar in the movie "The Bird Cage" when I think of "The Blaze".

15. Okay, so I ventured to the Blaze Swamp.
The home page has a big picture of all
the African Americans in a row at his rally.

Gee, what message do you suppose they are trying to convey?
That they are not really a bunch of white racists?
"Look, we have BLACK people to prove it!"

Disgusting.

16. nice to se mediate does his p.r.
"conquered live events"

nope. sorry to break it to them, but the antiwar marches of 2003 easily dwarfed Beck's little gathering. And they didn't need 6 months of promo from a rightwing cable outlet to get people there, either.

beck was also easily outdrawn by the immigration rally and the march for women's lives

considering how much was spent on this astroturf event, it did abysmally when compared with the shoestring budgets of progressive rallies

17. He reminds me of the thing that smeared me years ago.
has the same feel, although it is mostly present in the photos, and not always in his comments.

Pretty sure it is the same thing. But not always there...

18. Scott Baker is connected to Jeff Gannon
Edited on Tue Aug-31-10 11:34 AM by RamboLiberal
Another wonderful family values Christian. :sarcasm:

He was an anchor in Pittsburgh. At the time he was married to Ruth Ann Baker who was a RW Christian with an annoying valley girl way of speaking. She did some substitue stints as a radio talk host for a couple of stations, mainly WTAE radio which was affiliated with her husband's TV employer. They had a couple of kids.

Baker divorced her & married another RW Christian Nicole Johnson a former Miss America in 2003. They had a child & divorced in 2006. An ex-coworker who is a liberal host said what was creepy while Baker was married to Johnson he incessantly bragged about her being a former Miss America at every social occasion.

Baker's other claim to fame is being the journalism instructor who taught WH reporter/male prostitute Jeff Gannon all he knew about journalism.
