Chritian News Wire: Glenn Beck Promotes a False Jesus
Glenn Beck Promotes a False Jesus

MADISON, Wisc., Aug. 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- Glenn Beck promotes a false gospel. However, many of his political ideas can help America.

The "Restoring Honor" rally was a good idea to promote the values of America. However, when Beck ventured into the realm of "revival", his beliefs are open to scrutiny.

Despite mentioning God, Beck's Mormonism and other false religions promote a false gospel. "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ." (Galatians 1:6-7)

He accuses President Obama of false theology. Beck is hypocritical as the Mormon church has propagated deception for years. Obama's liberation theology is in equal error.

Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian values. Mormonism is not a Christian denomination but a cult of Christianity.

Some Mormon beliefs from "Christianity, Cults and Religions" (Rose Publishing, 2005):

1) God has a physical body and so does his wife.

2) No Trinity. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three separate gods. People can become gods.

3) Jesus was created by sexual union between God and Mary.

4) Jesus was married.

5) Jesus' death does not atone for all sin.

6) Baptism for the dead.

7) African descendants were not granted Mormon privileges until 1978.

8) Jesus and Satan were spirit brothers.

2. This is why I don't think Romney poses the threat many claim he does.
The Christian right would never vote for him in the primary.

11. Absolutely not
And if by some strange miracle, Romney became the nominee, they would vote third party, even though they know that it would guarantee the re-election of Barack Obama.

They actually trust Mormons less than someone they would make out to be a Muslim.

7. Yes
Absolutely they believe God the Father is married - however this is as far as any teaching goes on the matter. In fact some women in the Church have gotten themselves into trouble over the doctrine (some started to pray to her etc).

10. Their bringing a female into the picture is probably what riles so many
Christians. In some respects it's sort of sweet to think of there being a Mrs God the Father.

4. Conservative evangelicals consider Mormonism to be a cult and there's no way around that.
When push comes to shove, Beck's Mormonism will trump what he says when it comes to this group and Republicans can hardly afford to write them off.

18. Yep.
Let's let this story dominate and suck the air out of the room. Republican/Evangelical politicians will have to say do they support these freaky Mormon values to their Evangelical followers.

8. Got to love these "honest Christians"
Nothing like taking beliefs out of context... even as a former member it still irks me that they do this...

1) God has a physical body and so does his wife.

The Church teaches it is a Glorified Physical Body (a resurrected body - something the Church teach all will get do to Christ Resection)

2) No Trinity. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three separate gods. People can become gods.

Yep this is true - although "People can become gods" is not something you ever hear taught - its an extension of the Biblical belief that believers will inherit all that God has.

3) Jesus was created by sexual union between God and Mary.

This is not taught but was believed by early members.

4) Jesus was married.

Yep - the Bible actually teaches Jesus was a Rabbi - number one requirement to be a Rabbi in the Bible? Being married.

5) Jesus' death does not atone for all sin.

100% false

6) Baptism for the dead.

I don't get the big deal over this - its not like mainstream Christians teach innocent Children go to hell if they have never heard of Jesus - oh wait they do. The LDS Church has a doctrine that all can accept a baptism done for them in the next life. Odd yes, but no odder than mainstream beliefs that kids go to hell.

7) African descendants were not granted Mormon privileges until 1978.

True - but why not mention most religions in the US did the same up until the early 1900's? The LDS Church is not the only one by far that had odd and discriminatory doctrines based on race.

8) Jesus and Satan were spirit brothers.

Yes as is every living person - if God created everything wouldn't that be the case?

15. In Mormonism Jesus Christ did NOT die for ALL of our sins.....
Christ did not die for all sins.

Christ did not atone for the murderer, since there is no forgiveness for him "in this world, nor in the world to come." Christ also did not pay for more than a one-time offense of adultery, since such violators cannot be forgiven either (D&C 42:18 and 25-9).

20. 100% False...
Edited on Tue Aug-31-10 12:32 AM by FreeState
In the LDS Faith to gain forgiveness one must repent. The repentance process consists of these things:

1) feeling regret or sorrow for doing wrong

2) confessing the sin

3) asking for forgiveness

4) making restitution for any damage done

5) promising not to repeat the sin.

Both 3 and 4 are impossible to do in this life and the next for murder - does that mean the in LDS doctrine Jesus did not die for this sin? No, LDS believe he payed for all sins and one can be forgiven by Jesus for the sin of murder, however they can not gain full repentance because a person would need the person they killed to forgive them and to repair any damage they have done to them (cant confess to them or fix the damage). This is what I was taught when I was a member.

By the way most mainstream Christian Churches believe there is at least one sin that is unforgivable - The Unforgivable Sin (denying the Holy Spirit).

16. That is our goal
We are about to put up a website and shout this to the world, and cause all the attention to be focused on this, disrupting this Teabagger momentum and hopefully suppress and confuse right wing voter turnout. Getting Beck's show to lose advertisers and lose his show would be sweet too.
