Breaking up with Huffington Post
There was an article on HuffPo about fighting Islamophobia. I had a little bit of hope until I read the comments... every single one was about how Islamophobia was "different" (I.e. rational) when compared to other phobias.

This is what I mean by apparently rational, progressive people giving into stereotypes and hatred.

Do I agree with everything Islam has to say? Not really. But I refuse to see people as ideologies.

2. My main problem with it is that Arianna is more concerned with giving her celebrity pals
column space than actual good journalism.

And the commentators often gleefully dance on the graves of newspapers... a really stupid idea for readers of aggregators.

4. That pretty much sums up the comments on most any American newpaper

Indeed- there are large daily papers like the Oregonian that actually encourage race baiting with Hispanics or Muslims.

3. I stopped posting there once it became overrun with stupid people.

With most of them being User Mods that delete anybody who challenges them. The site is also overrun with nasty bigots, trolls, and spammers. I cannot see why anybody would want to post there.

I lurk there every day to look at the stories, but don't post there.

6. The only thing I like about HuffPo is the interface ...
... I can click over there and in one page get a general view of the stories making the rounds (even if I don't always agree with the slant).

Anyone have other suggestions as to something like this?

8. Another aggregator?
I've heard reddit is good. I find the reddit interface inferior to HuffPo, however.

But Arianna has really dropped the ball on the comments section.
