Because I can't for the life of me figure out what these people are about in any kind of meaningful way.

The meaningless sloganeering about "wanting their country back" and "no socialism!" and/or "no taxes!" don't really do it for me.

I actually 100% agree that the government should stay out of people's business, in a sense, but that doesn't mean that we as a society shouldn't have a cooperative support structure...otherwise we are just a bunch of dumb beasts.

I keep coming back to a fundamental disconnect where these tea partiers, Beck fans, whoever, seem to just favor a system of domination and exploitation over cooperation and mutual support for the common good. But then it seems like they're often the ones being dominated and exploited. It makes no sense.

And fear. That's what they've always been about.

2. of what, or whom? just everybody else?
I sort of get the whole "I've worked hard to be where I am in this world and I don't want to pay for anybody else to get a free ride" stuff, even though I don't think that's what anybody is really talking about, but the way they rant, it often seems like they want to just dismantle the entire society.

I mean, what exactly are their proposals for regressive legislation to get things to where they'll be happy? Start with tearing down the schools, maybe?

3. I don't think they're rational for the most part.
They (like us, actually) believe the world is going to hell in a handbasket, but, unlike us, they blame colored people and impoverished people and foreign people for the world's problems. So they want Big Defense to protect them from the outside world, and they want Big Police to preserve law and order domestically. And they don't want Big Government taking their allegedly hard-earned dollars to fill the pockets of colored and impoverished people. And they want Jesus to be obeyed because Jesus's Law, in their view, is much harsher than Big Government's Law. And they do want public schools to be scrapped if they won't teach Jesus's Law and only teach Socialism to anchor babies and Democrat children.
