White House reaffirms support of Alan Simpson. He will "continue to serve".
Apparently only targets of right-wing propaganda such as Ms Sherrod get fired by this White House.

====

The Obama administration on Monday reiterated its commitment to keeping former Sen. Alan Simpson as the co-chairman of the president's deficit commission even as the Wyoming Republican has come under heavy fire for his disparaging comments on Social Security.

"Senator Simpson sent an e-mail that he's now apologized for," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters at Monday's daily briefing. "We regret that he sent that e-mail. We don't condone those comments. But Senator Simpson has and will continue to serve on the commission."

Last week, Simpson caused a stir when, in an e-mail to the executive director of National Older Women's League, he stated his opinion that Social Security is "like a milk cow with 310 million tits."

And, I hope I'm wrong.

We will surely see.

ETA: If I turn out to be right, will you remind me of this? I don't think so.

5. The Democratic Party is losing Wall Street campaign bribes/donations
So, they have to give up Social Security to Wall Street. The bailouts and giant bonuses were just not enough for the insatiable greed of the banksters. They need more, and more. Even after they get to raid our Social Security retirement funds, it wont be enough and President Obama will still be considered the pariah of Wall Street.

But he will keep trying to appease them no matter what.

12. Sadly, it doesn't suprise me.
The only way Simpson gets fired is if he's liberal or black. If he was both he'd have already been gone.

Enough appeasement of the Republicans, already! Fire Alan Simpson and the tit he rode in on!

I am so very tired of hearing how Social Security will be insolvent in 30 years if we don't change it - but the change is always on the backs of the American worker.

How about we reinstate the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and pay back what what is owed to Social Security by the general fund FROM the general fund?

Heck - you can fix it in just ONE graph:

But that might make the "professional left" correct about policy... again.

Keep flooding their servers.

17. Well, if he had displeased the administration, he would have been fired
So, after insulting about 90% of Americans, he "apologized" for the e-mail. To someone, I guess. And while the sending of the e-mail was apparently regrettable according to the Obama administration, and they didn't "condone" the comments, the sentiments behind the comments were just fine. Because otherwise, someone so inimical to the most successful government program ever, which doesn't contribute one dime to the federal budget deficit, would be out on his ear from a commission which purports to be looking for ways to reduce the deficit.

"Oh, pooh-pooh," say the True Believers. "The Obama administration and Congress won't monkey with social security, and surely won't do it during any lame duck session in December. No how, no way." These same people, I presume, are eagerly awaiting the side agreements to NAFTA on labor and environmental regulations, which will be hammered out, oh, just any second now.
