then the guy taped three cell phones together and taped another cell phone to a bottle of pepto bismol, packed it all in his checked luggage and then sent his luggage on a seperate flight because.....?

3. Yes, by all means, the TSA should NOT try to do their job.

5. I read a blog yesterday from a beauty editor complaining because

TSA pulled her to one side and made her take all the crap out of her carry-on. She felt justified because only one of the bottles was over the 3 oz limit (It was 5 oz) I guess she missed all the posters about how all liquids and gels have to be in a 1 qt clear plastic bag!

I have to carry medical equipment. Sometimes TSA takes it to one side for further testing, sometimes not. I also tend to get flustered - like I remember that if I'm wearing my steel toe boots, they have to come off, but I forgot about my regular walking shoes the last time. I've never been treated with anything but courtesy.

7. I fly a great deal, especially during winter. And I have all sorts of junk--

laptop, projector, CPAP machine, electronics, usually no liquids...

And TSA people have always been polite and professional to me. But, then, I know the system, and I glide right through without making waves or slowing things down.

They get a bad rap most of the time.

11. OK, the current story, as I understand it is this:

1.Things all started when a guy showed up at the airport carrying $7000 ina bundle tucked under his clothes.

2. The guy was bringing the 3 phones to one person, so he taped them together. The other phone and Peptp Bismol were going to another person, so he taped them together.

3.Apparently, this guy and the other guy were booked to fly to out of Washington, but they missed the flight, so United booked them to Amsterdam out of Chicago while their bags went out on the Washington flight. Guy #2 apparently has no connection with Guy #1 aside from missing his original flight.

So, it appears that this may be an innocent sequence of events. Still, I for one am glad to see that it is being investigated.
