counting absentee and questioned ballots today in Alaska
Almost 25,000 votes needed counting. A little more than half have now been counted and Miller's lead over Murkowski has been cut a bit. He started the day a little more than 1600 votes ahead of Murkowski and now the count is 1294 votes ahead. There are about ten thousand votes yet to count and it may not be until Sept 7th (next Tuesday) that we know the final count. Miller is doing way better so far then expected. Murkowski had done well among early voters so she was convinced she would also do well among absentee voters as well. I think we are down to the questioned ballots now and those should more than likely go more heavily to Miller. This could be HUGE benefit for Democrats if Miller pulls this off. There is no way Democrats could have won against Murkowski but against Miller it is about fifty-fifty...Fingers Crossed. :-)

Where did you get the 'a little more than have have been counted' at?
I think the number that has been counted so far is around 8,000 of the 25K

2,400 + 2,900 + 850 + 2,900 + 850 =

Can you post a link to where you're getting your numbers? Thanks :)

4. I thought the same thing about Miller being a benefit to the Dems.
I'm not from AK so I don't know how they think about the different issues, but after hearing Miller on Sunday saying he wanted to get rid of medicare and privatise SS didn't sound like winning positions to me! Ohhh, how happy I'd be if dear Sarah spent he next 2 onths crowing about how SH won that nomination for MIller 7 then see the seat go to a Democrat!!!!! Damn, I'd even buy mama grizzly a box of keenex for that event!

6. Scott McAdams is an excellent candidate for the Dems
He just needs to get some statewide name recognition, but he is far more in line with traditional Alaskan values than this Teabagger Miller.

10. Update
6:50pm The ADN reports that the next round of ballots to report will come from Southeast Alaska and the Kenai peninsula -- about 5800 absentees and questioned ballots from areas where Murkowski is hoping to romp in. Following that, we'll get a look at about 2750 votes from Miller-friendly Fairbanks.
