I'm glad Obama used this speech to argue for independence from fossil fuels. |
|
Obama speaks about energy in every major speech. He's relentless about using the bully pulpit on this issue. He's absolutely correct to tie dependence on fossil fuels to the war in Iraq. It's a message the American public needs to hear.
The Senate has blood on their hands as long as they fail to pass significant climate change legislation. More people will die in floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and other disasters while we wait for the Senate to take action. No one who's too cowardly to take action on climate change deserves to be a Senator.

1. Maybe they need to increase fuel taxes |
|
But the American people are not ready to pay more for fuel. And the democrats may lose in the forthcoming election. What is the pragmatic solution when people are about to vote democrats out of office? Interesting conumdrum.

3. I think there are other ways to do it. |

It's the coal companies who need to be targeted, not the average car driver. If Democrats lose seats in Congress then they MUST pass a bill in the December lame duck session of Congress.
