Gore Statement about running in 2008

I knew last year Gore was not going to run so, I am really confused by the people who are still holding out for Gore.
Not only Gore, but, close friends and advisors and his own son has said he was not running.
Now this statement by Gore, copied from a story on mydd, is pretty clear he has no intentions of running now.


When I asked Gore why he hasn't dismissed all the speculation by issuing a Shermanesque refusal to stand, as he did in 2002, Gore said, "Having spent 30 years as part of the political dialogue, I don't know why a 600-day campaign is taken as a given, and why people who aren't in it 600 days out for the convenience of whatever brokers want to close the door and narrow the field and say, `This is it, now let's place your bets' -- If they want to do that, fine. I don't have to play that game."(...)

"I'm not issuing a Shermanesque statement because that's not where I am. I'm not ruling it out for all time. Although I cannot presently foresee any circumstances, such circumstances could emerge."(...)

1. Yep, he's definitely ruling it out for now or something, no doubt kind of.

I hope if he does run he doesnt express himself with such sort of certainty at so lengthy a kind of length.

2. If F. Thompson steps in late then Gore is the only one to counter.

7. He knows he could change the election dynamics the minute he changes his mind.

He's got lots going for him...collective revenge for 2000, the right agenda, great exposure for his agenda, I see no need to get himself or his campaign overly exposed now. Fundraising isn't really an issue...he could get the cash he needed to run a short campaign easily. Why duke it out with a crowded field? He gets no advantage from debating other Democrats and all of the other candidates are running the danger of over-exposure. He could wait till the last minute to enter the primaries or, perhaps, even wait for a deadlocked convention when he could electrify and unify the Party with a sudden entrance.
