US Taxpayer money funding mosque development around world
A friend of mine sent me this article asking if I knew anything about this article. I had not and checked with Snopes, FactCheck, and even did a DU search, but found nothing. Is there anyone in DU Land who has any info about this? I find it disturbing if it is true because according to the Code of Federal Regulations, “USAID funds may not be used for the acquisition, construction, or rehabilitation of structures to the extent that those structures are used for inherently religious activities.”
snip
While much attention has been focused on questions surrounding the Ground Zero mosque and the appropriateness of the State Department funding Ground Zero mosque imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s trip to the Middle East, little attention has been given to the fact that U.S. taxpayer money is funding mosque development around the world.

2. Snopes, factcheck, and the rest simply do not have the TIME
to go around the web and disprove every single loony, anti-American lie.

Check out some typical headlines from the Daily Caller:

* Documents show media plotting to kill stories about Rev. Jeremiah Wright
* Liberal journalists suggest government censor Fox News
* When McCain picked Palin, liberal journalists coordinated the best line of attack
* Tucker Carlson Launches New Website

Fercrissakes, the site is RUN BY Tucker Carlson and a Cheney advisor!

But in response to your specific query, the Daily Caller's information is drawn from this file: http://usoda.eads.usaidallnet.gov/docs/summary_2008.pdf . It's where the Daily Caller got ideas like this: "In Montenegro, for example, the State Department has funded an effort to restore and conserve the Shadrvan (Fountain) of the Old Mosque in Pljevlja." That financial statement is from 2008. Remind me, who was president at the time? Who was in charge of the state department that funded those mosque repairs?

Why is it that this article tries to make it sound like Hillary Clinton is responsible for the activities of Condoleeza Rice's state department? Why is it that this article doesn't even mention Condoleeza Rice, who ran the state department when it funded those programs?
