Pure Michigan moment

The Grand Rapids Press

This cloud resembles Michigan's lower peninsula in this photo sent in by a Press reader.

Susan Yunker sent in this photo of a cloud that looks distinctly like Michigan's lower peninsula.

She wrote that she had seen The Press' annual Summer Scrapbook photo contest album, which was published on Sunday, Aug. 29, and couldn't resist sending in this picture.

"That same night (of the photo contest) we took a boat ride on Murray Lake with our kids and some friends," Younker wrote. "We looked up and saw a cloud that looked like Michigan. Our friend, Jamie, had her cell phone and snapped this picture. Too cool not to share."

We agree.

1. My 5 year old grandson (who lives in TX) was eating
chicken fingers and he held one up. It was shaped like a mitten and he said, "This looks like Michigan where Nana is from." For the past 35 years I have lived in Maine and Connecticut and now Florida in the winter. I guess helping him put US puzzles together was a real teaching/learning situation.

at least.

A friend has a house near Saugatauk (sp?). Great place. The UP? The orchards? Isle Royale? Come on. Pure Michigan indeed.

...from a kid whose dad grew up in Pitoskey.
