Poll question: Here's a poll I haven't seen on DU. Which GOPer do we want to win THEIR nomination?
In other words, who do we want to run AGAINST?

(I left out Ron Paul and added Fred Thompson since DU polls only allow 10 choices but if you guys can think of anybody else who might jump in (like maybe Newt...?) go ahead and skip voting and do a write-in. :D

These are in no particular order, just coming up by my own memory.

1. I think McCain will be easiest to defeat.
He's always been a renegade in the Senate, and LOTS of Pubs hate him. I also have been watching him, and lately he really looks like a very tired old man. That, coupled with his strong link to Shrub and the continuation of the was is a SURE LOSER!

and try for another fundy endorsement...

2. McCain
Because he embodies the now well-known traits of hypocrisy and opportunism of today's Republicans.

Bring it on, Granpa.

All those moderate republican women who assured me in 2000 that Chimpy was no threat to Roe v Wade, will vote the democratic candidate in 2008 just like they did in 2006.

30. Right, I was thinking about how much fun it would be.
But all we would have to do to beat McCain is have reruns of the GOP 2000 presidential primary. We wouldn't even have to change the TV ads. Just run them again. That would be fun too.

Shall I super-size that order of slime, sir?

I don't know why McCain is still trying. He blew it when he decided to tie his destiny to Junior's and ended up being chained to an anchor, not hitched to a star.

24. I half-way agree; I'm for Newt + Brownshirt.
A morally repellent, physically repulsive megalomaniac who's about .005% as smart as he thinks he is plus a guy who believes in the literal truth of the Bible (Reader's Digest version): Joe Biden could kick their asses!

18. Perhaps, but I'm an optimist by nature.
I also think a Brownback/Hunter ticket would inspire a lot of republican-leaning voters to rethink the value of their participation in politics. Maybe take up something more suited to their abilities like shot glass collecting.

Not very likely to win, and not as bad as any of the others if he does.

I do NOT subscribe to the "hope they nominate a flaming nutbar" theory.
The flaming nutbar might "win"!
Look who's in the White House now!
Since then, thousands of Diebold Repiglican Electing Machinez have been installed,
and dozens of Bushbot US attorneys.

Between his blind adherence to Bush policies and flashes of mental instability, a McCain presidency carries the threat of being a replay of both the Reagan AND Dubya years!

27. Please do not think I have taken lea ve of my senses:
Watch Huckabee. He is a cross between Ronald Regan
and Bill Clinton. That""sunny Z" personality and ability
to get out the overview of what he wishes to accomplish.

Neither Regan nor Clinton set the world on fire when they
started. When Clinton was almost wiped out, then pulled
the "Comeback Kid" in NH.-- the world new he had the"Fire In
the belly" Regan met up with some obstacles, but when he
caught on, he caught on.

I am the first to say I could be out in Left Field here, but
keep an eye on Huckabee.

Besides he meets the criterior of RR. He is the only
lower tier candidate I see with a real chance at Moving Up.
