Ooga Booga Booga - The Chineese Have Warships With Sailors On Them
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 05:45 AM by unhappycamper
unhappycamper note: Since the Pentagon has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.

To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

I didn't realize that the Pentagon/MIC could restrict my First Amendment rights as well as morph the Copyright Act of 1976, 17 U.S.C. § 107 with zero, zip, nada Congressional approval. (NOTE: I am going to revise the preceding sentence.) It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.[br />
unhappycamper summary of this article: Using the fear factor to buy more (very expensive) Naval ships is just plain wrong.

Ooga Booga Booga.

In a must read article on rising weapons costs and defense spending, the Economist puts up an interesting chart from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) showing that China now has more warships than the U.S. While IISS apparently uses its own definition for what is and is not a warship (the chart puts U.S. warships at a very debatable 150), the long term trend is unmistakable.

1. We spend 9 times more than China on defense...
and they still have more stuff? Skewed data aside, maybe if we spent the money on production instead of lining the pockets of contractors...

BTW - all those military journals might want to know that the only way I ever read their stuff is through your posts. Maybe you should just make a joke at the end of each article and call it "fair use" through satire.

4. Probably no pork in the cost of military spending in China
No appeasing to congressional districts push to have a lucrative military contractor in their district.

6. If the Chineese warship works as well as the rest of the crap coming
