Retirees not rolling over in fight to dump 'Million Tit Twit' Simpson

"There is not a judge in this country that would allow Alan Simpson to serve on a jury if Social Security were on trial," said Edward Coyle, executive director of the Alliance for Retired Americans, in a statement. "Co-chairing a presidential panel is serious business. Much like serving on a jury, it requires a fair, balanced, and honest evaluation of the evidence. By this reasonable yardstick, Alan Simpson has disqualified himself from serving on this commission....

"Simpson's remarks were not only deeply hurtful and inaccurate, but they clearly compromise his ability to objectively weigh the arguments presented to the commission during its deliberations,' said Coyle. "His conduct is unbecoming someone trusted with this level of responsibility, and it is time for President Obama to replace him with someone with a greater sense of comportment and impartiality."

1. Social Security shouldn't even be a consideration for this commission.
Since it has nothing to do with the Deficit.

Repeat this as often as necessary.

2. You're absolutely right.
Ince they get us fighting over the details of who should be on it, they're past the main hurdle of justifying why it should exist at all.

4. Absolutely right. The mission of the commission is deficit reduction.
As you pointed out, and it's worth repeating:
Social Security does not add to the deficit. So how could doing ANYTHING with Social Security reduce the deficit?

11. "First they came for those ignored, because they knew nobody would raise a ruckus"
There is a small group of us working on this.... we could definitely use some help.

Are you willing? For the sake of your relatives?

9. That's unconscionable, and totally unacceptable.
Some things truly should be "off the table". Disability benefits, and veteran's benefits are two that come to mind.

However, that doesn't change the fact the Social Security doesn't contribute to the deficit and is beyond the scope of this commission's mission.

6. If i coul rec your post, I would.
Isn't it bizarre how everyone, even the people who assure us that Social Security is under no threat from the Catfood Commission, just casually accept the fact the Commission's main focus is Social Security?

12. The propaganda has become reality. There are thousands being terminated from
disabiility.

Not that it matters.

18. Look, if it mattered to people like YOU, there would be the push on the people in power.
But, people like me aren't important to people like you, so stop blaming it all on others.

You're not the only one in pain in this country.

20. I don't give a damn about your faux, misplaced anger. There are so many people suffering, but
want to blame it all on "the powers".

There are so many things that "liberals" and "progressives" could do to bring this issue to light, and to get changes made. Blaming it on others doesn't cut it.

And, putting your rage on me is very like what those on the other side do, too. It's called "PREJUDICE".

And I doubt very much I'll get one.

I stand by my post to you.

14. PLEASE MAKE ENOUGH NOISE to get this asshole SACKED.
The level of contempt he spews... So many Americans are oblivious to the total contempt in which they are held by the monied, self-appointed "ruling class." But then again, 19% of Amis think they are in the top 5% economically.

15. Isn't it interesting that the older generation will fight for something, even if they personally
don't need it?

There are many in that geneeration who are quite comfortable, and don't need SS in order to survive.

Yet, they are raising a ruckus because they know many need it.

21. Is that anonymous blogger going to support those who get their payments cut, or are eliminated?
His narrow-minded loyalty is selfish.

22. I couldn't say
But were "extreme liberal" here, I would bet the toad a hundred bucks that this administration will indeed, without tons of public pressure, try to screw around with social security under the guise of deficit reduction. The make-up of the commission, consisting exclusively of multi-millionaires who don't depend on social security, practically guarantees that they will propose some draconian measures for other people to suffer under.

23. IF they can be kicking off thousands of people from disability, in the name of "deficit reduction",
which they are, you can bet they will, in your words, "screw around" with SS.

The difference is, thhose of us being "terminated" (very apt phrase!) have no support... we are invisible to the rest of you, and our absence won't be noticed.

But, SS... that is a whole nother being.
