The Republican Party does equal the Democratic Party in one sense |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 09:51 AM by Tony_FLADEM
Human beings are imperfect beings. There will always be problems facing our country and humanity no matter which party is in power.
The question that needs to be asked is: which party makes a good enough faith effort to address the problems facing this country. If you look at the history of this country and the last 2 years, the answer clearly is the Democratic party.
The Democrats negotiated with the Republicans for over a year on the healthcare bill because they wanted to make an effort to arrive at the right answer to the healthcare question.
The Republican Party on the otherhand exhibited hypocrisy and dishonesty on every issue put before them.
More than anything, that's the reason the Democrats should stay in power.

1. "which party makes a good enough faith effort to address the problems facing this country?" |
|
Neither. That is precisely the problem.

4. The problem is the "try" isn't honest. Its been a shell game lately. |
|
The "public option" was taken off the table at the very start of the healthcare debate. By Obama himself. The final product ended up as a "gimme" to the insurance companies.
The new "regulations" on Wall St. were written by the very bankers who started this mess.

5. That's your jaded take on it and I won't try to change your mind. |
|
Those who choose to put down Obama can own up to that all by themselves.
The try was honest, and nothing would have been good enough for some.

6. Maybe the public option is not needed |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 10:12 AM by Tony_FLADEM
The public options can always be added later if the health insurance companies do not perform well.
If the new regulations on Wall Street are so favorable, why is Wall Street furious with the Democratic Party and giving 80& of their money to Republicans?
Democrats are only given 1 chance to enact legislation and cannot amend as needed? Why bother even having elections if that is the case.

8. Whether or not it was needed, it was used as a carrot to get us "professional leftists" to |

support the legislation. We didn't know that it was taken off the table at the very start of the debate. It wasn't made public that the Public Option was off the table until after the legislation had passed. Thats just dirty pool.

7. Either Democrats or Republicans will be in power. That is the choice... |
|
Which of those two will come marginally closer to being better?

10. No, Democrats will create programs that are slightly more friendly... |
|
to the poor and middle class. The DLC, that are a small faction in the Democratic party, are irrelevant to that.
